All roads lead to excitement with Kurt Russell in Breakdown, the non-stop thrill ride.

Jeff Taylor (Russell) and his wife Amy (Kathleen Quinlan) are headed toward a new life in California when their car's engine dies on a remote highway. Amy accepts a ride from a helpful trucker (J.T. Walsh) while Jeff waits with the car. But when Jeff shows up at the agreed rendezvous, he finds his wife's not there. The locals aren't talking; the police aren't much help. With no one to turn to, Jeff battles his worst fears and begins a desperate, danger-ridden search to find Amy - before it's too late!

Hey, first time poster long time checker of this thread.

Anyone else looking to get the arcane 4k steelbook like me you can find it on https://sugoi.shop/pages/arcane for much cheaper than jbhifi au, and will probably ship much faster too.

Just placed a preorder myself, I was cautious at first since id never heard of them but its linked to directly on the faq section of the official https://store.gkids.com/pages/arcane

I've joined you in rolling the dice on this e-tailer. They give you $10 off your first order if you agree to receive spam mail so not a bad deal.

🤞

I don't know if anyone in this thread is interested in buying Digital streaming films, but a good alternative to importing ALIEN: Romulus on physical will be the Apple Store offering.

Due for release sometime tomorrow (October 15th) in the NZ Apple Store, the film will cost $24.99 and has Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos and an Extras package included.

Also, already released in the Apple Store is DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE and BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE which are both $34.99 to buy, but will reduce to $24.99 when the physical release becomes available. or possibly earlier than that. Both films also have Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos and an Extras package included.

I went all-digital on iTunes for a while, but I really missed having a tangible collection. There's something about holding a physical disc and admiring the cover art that just can't be replaced. I purchased a 4K Blu-ray player last year, and the audio quality is incredible.

However, the rising cost of physical media, especially imports, is making me reconsider. I have some pre-orders for 4K steelbooks (Alien Romulus & Deadpool and Wolverine) from Zavvi, but at $90 each with shipping, iTunes is starting to look like a much better deal.

I also went all-digital for a while, and I sold many of my 4K collection, but I also missed having a tangible collection.

There are arguments both for and against for both formats. Its nice to have a hands-on physical media collection, but its also nice to have the convenience of a Digital Collection. I have a foot in both camps, and I have many titles on both formats. With the hassle of having to import Disney/Fox/Marvel/Pixar titles, I now buy them from the Apple Store, but only when their prices have been reduced. Although many people have gone totally digital, I believe that there is room for both formats, albeit 4K physical media will become a niche collector's market, even more niche than it is today, and, unfortunately, collector's will have to pay through the nose for the service.

The Apple Store have many Paramount catalogue titles at $2.99 each this week. Titles that have been recently upgraded to Dolby Vision among them. I grabbed... An Officer and a Gentleman, Trainspotting, Stardust and Hugo for less than $12. I just can't bring myself to pay $25 to $30 each for these titles on physical.

One thing that streaming just can't beat over physical, is audio. Disc based audio is definitely way ahead; Video quality... not so much. In fact I can't tell the difference with my old eyes.
