No. Big downside. There is a USB port on the unit so you can plug an external HDD to play content via that. I am getting a OUYA box for the PC streaming side of things.

Actually there is an app called plex which you install on the Roku. You then install plex on your PC and you can stream away.

Roku 3 has a Plex app. I would use the Plex app to stream from PC.

this is a slap in the face!

Thanks. Good to know. I did notice that my Snology NAS also has a plex app which converts it into a server. This has all my media loaded on it anyways. Should have the Roku 3 delivered in 10 days time.

Given the Roku only appears to play H.624 videos am I right in thinking that any content streamed via Plex will need to be converted to H.624 first? Or does Plex convert on the fly when streaming? (seems unlikely)

Amazing service from amazon as usual. They recieved the new stock much earlier and shipped me the roku 3 via dhl.

wife just messaged me, it's here at home .delivered in 4 days. Would have been 2 days most prob if it was not for easter holidays. will set it up tonight.

I went ahead with unotelly's dns service instead of unblock-us. dishworld iptv does not currently works with unblock-us but does with unotelly. unotelly is also $1 cheaper/monh at $3.99

The Plex Server does all the transcoding if needed.

I have finished setting it all up with Netflix, Hulu Plus, Crackle and Dishworld IPTV so far. Will setup Amazon VOD and Vudu later.

First scare was that the PSU for the Roku says 120VAC for input only. I remember watching an roku 3 unboxing couple of days ago and the guy stating his PSU in the unboxing said 120VAC to 230VAC on his unit. I felt brave and plugged the PSU into the power socket anyways and it went fine without smoking itself.

The Roku account I had created via tunnelbear was for some reason not being recognised as an US account as I could not see channels like Netflix, Hulu Plus, Vudu etc so I deleted that roku account and re-created it using same email address via unotelly's dns service and I was then able to see all the channels to add to roku.

Watched The Walking Dead for first time ever via Netflix and it's awesome. Have few seasons to watch now. Crackle is really good. No signup's. Watch free movies.

I approve of the Roku. There is also an 3rd party created Roku app available for Windows Phone. Works great.

I see there is an update for the Rouku 2. Have not gotten around to installing it yet.

How those earphones working?

Have never bothered much about Dishworld IPTV. Is there anything worthwhile on it?

Earbuds that come with Roku 3 are decent but not great. The jack on the remote is awesome. The volume switches from the TV to headphones almost instant and vice versa without stopping or pausing the video. I can see myself using this feature a bit.

Did notice that after couple of hours of streaming, the roku 3 was bit hot. Also, very small/tiny unit. Fits the palm of my hands.

Dishworld IPTV streamed at max 1980kbps for me which is fine on small screen but not for a big 51" plasma. Image looked grainy due to the low bit rate. This is more than likely due to unotelly's service only providing that much bandwidth for dishworld iptv. Channel selections is great and IPL coverage will be live on Neo Cricket. Wife will use dishworld. I just wanted the cricket. Will be a lot better in couple of months time hopefully once I get connected to UFB.

Netflix, Crackle and Hulu Plus quality was great via unotelly.

I have a Roku 2 and with unblock service and TCL cable (warp) I have always been impressed with the quality of the streaming services. I particularly like Amazon because it's free for me.

I can't see a need for an upgrade to the Roku 3 but I would consume more if I had a better broadband cap.

All dependant on the $US/NZ$ Exchange rate. But both Netflix and Hulu+ are US7.99 per month

Both Netflix and Hulu Plus are US$7.99/month each. Dishworld depends on the package but I subscribed to the Mega pack which is US$44/month. On 1 month free trial with dishworld atm. Neocricket is also free for 1 month. After that, it's US$17/month I think. 2 other cricket channels are part of the mega pack but they won't be showing IPL which will be on Neo Cricket.

Unotelly or Unblock-US are $5/month to make it all work.
