Actually $2000 is a good price, all other places quoted me from $3000 and up in all other options.

I'd like the RM6750, but they were sold out here in Wellington, that's why I got the $2000 quote for the modelup. I might call these guys and see if they deliver...

I'm sure they would deliver. Failing that, EHF have a branch in Palmy which is not that much of a drive from Johnsonville. Take a weekend visit to your in-laws and pick them up on the way back maybe? $1399 sounds like a reasonable price to pay for that set of speakers.

Yep, I can understand your sadness in seeing the old speakers go. I have some floor-standing JBLs similar to your Polk Audios and my Missions are similar to the surround/centre speakers you have.

But when you have a crawler/toddler in the house, all these things come under attack and the floor-standing speakers are likely to be toppled by adventurous tots seeking to pull themselves up on things. Heck, our twin boys even managed to pull a Scotch Chest (large chest of drawers) over on top of themselves by pulling out each drawer in turn and climbing up one level at a time...

The only thing that saved them from being squashed were the posts on the end of their bunks which stopped the chest of drawers from falling completely to the ground. The way I solved that problem was to put 2 big screws in the wall and tie the chest of drawers across from one side to the other with a piece of rope.

Then there was our vinyl record collection which had a neat row of toothmarks all along the top corners of each album cover...

Mauricio, your fun is just starting and I think it's an excellent idea to get your Home Theatre equipment high up on the walls

I use a set of Bipole Missions for rears, they are the best thing I ever bought. The best thing about them is that they are very unfussy about siting within the room. That said my current setup is near text book, however I have no regrets in getting the Mission Bipoles. Currently these are placed on the sidewalls about 0.7meters behind the prime listening position and 0.5meters above ear hight whilst seated. My fronts are floor stand mounted Rogers LS5a BBC monitors, so they definitely dont count toward crawling kid territory, however there are plenty of wall mounted fronts you can try.

Be warned, Bipoles have both faces in phase, Dipoles have each face out of phase. Dipoles were popular in the days before DD5.1 when prologic ruled. However Dipoles have no place in a true 5.1 system. Bipoles however do an excellent job of rear dispertion especially when not optimally placed.

If I were in your situation I would attempt to purchase a set of speakers that had a -3dB response to at least 50Hz, 75Hz if you must. Many of the small wall speakers wont do below 100-120Hz, the crossover of most AVR's is 80-90Hz, thus you can end up with a hole in a quite critical place if you use too small a speaker. The end result can be quite "tin can" like if you are not carefull.

It is for this vary reason that I suggest that you look at wall contained speakers, you get tidy concealed wall mounting, but decent cubic capacity to give a good LF response. This link gives some idea of what I am talking about.

We looked at some in wall speakers at the Real Music Company. Nice stuff. But since this is not the house we are planning to keep, we might just go for wall mounted.

Called Palmerston North and talked to the guys at Eastern HiFi. I might go up there Sunday if they are open, otherwise I have someone to collect them on Wednesday.

They even mentioned we could do a deal.

Coffee in Palmertson North anyone?

My partner was working last Sunday in Levin, so I went across to Palmy & Eastern Hi-Fi to do some research for a home theater project we doing next year. They were closed!

Hi Mauricio,

I bought the same speaker set from Eastern Hi-Fi just before Christmas, I was lucky enough to get them for $999.99 during a sale. Fantastic sound for small speakers, I reckon you'll love them.
I would be interested to know if you can find wall mounting brackets though, as mine didn't come with any and I can't seem to find anyone who sells them, only universal brackets which are pretty big and ugly. I have mine mounted on picture hooks at the moment but would prefer something that lets me adjust the angle of the speaker.

Interesting... I opened the box when we got back home and there are the small holes in the back to hook up the speakers - are you saying your didn't have these?

The Speakers have slots for hanging and a female thread for bracket mounting, but I didn't get any brackets, so I've hung from the slots.

I really happy with my KEF speakers. I bought them in Hong Kong but they are available from the likes of eastern hifi. They are litle egg shaped speakers that come with convertible stands for mounting on wall or standing on bench etc
