Get yourself going with mythTV and then install the android client: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mythtv&hl=en

(although to be fair, it's a work in progress, at least on my phone, and not all features are implemented yet).

To the OP, not sure $150 is *that* much worth it for the loss of CGA protections. And does that include shipping?

A little bit off topic but:

Just bought a HD Homerun off the Kaiser Baas website and installed it yesterday.

It works extremely well, installation is easy and I'd say the reception quality is at least as good as my Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2210. (I have a slightly spotty Kordia mux).

Changing channels takes 1-2 seconds longer.

The only disappointment is that a Rasberry Pi I borrowed to try really couldn't cope with 1080 TV, with the video falling further and further behind the sound, breaking up etc. So I'm looking for the next cheapest way of carrying TV out to my sleepout (has power and ethernet).

On the plus side, my daughter's laptop showed HD channels fine even on b/g wireless.

As with 99.9% of tuners on the market, the answer is "yes"... but the capability is a software capability, not hardware or driver. So the true answer depends on the software you use. If you use WMC the answer is no.

I'm noticing the issue on Choice and Prime where it freezes when you try to skip forward or back, is much better through the homerun. Not perfect, but better.

My understanding is that the issue you're referring to is an issue to more or less of a degree with all the channels on the Kordia mux. It is caused by the tricks (encoding parameters) that Kordia (or whoever is managing the encoder/muxer) is using to squash in all the channels. If I'm right this issue has absolutely nothing to do with the HDHR. Different demultiplexer and decoder (ie. codec) combinations - either hardware or software - will show the problem to greater or lesser extents with the same tuners.

Just to follow up on this.

Kaisar Bass are just a re-branded SiliconDust, they definitely don't replace them or anything.

The SiliconDust version is now available in this part of the world again.
