DjShadow: the website (www.freeviewnz.tv) is fully up and running now
steve98:LOL not only that but you can EDIT IT as wellDjShadow: the website (www.freeviewnz.tv) is fully up and running now
And very nice it looks too!
sbiddle:RobDickinson: I think its madness they've not been advertising it since xmas realy - how much would it cost TV companies to put in a few adverts now and again?
Sky have been pushing hard recently and tying people into lengthy contracts with juct get in offers, all those people are now lost customers for quite some time.
Freeview and Sky aren't competing products so that's a moot point.
After reading a few other posts in this thread I gthink people forget that Freeview isn't some fancy PPV service, it's the first step towards replacing NZ's analogue broadcast channels with DVB-S and DVB-T replacements.
IMHO there's no point in wasting money advertising that Freeview is coming soon because 99% of people simply wouldn't care. Once the service is up and running there will be an advertising campaign to advertise the fact. IMHO Freeview isn't really going to take off until DVB-T is available next February.
Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD. https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.
Interesting. Maybe they are also preparing for WS on Freeview?

fcollingwood: Hmm....A quick Q, as I haven't kept up with it - What will be the benefit of FTV DVB-S over the FTV channels broadcast by Sky?
cyril7: I suspect that once FreeView is offically launched next Wednesday Sky will either immediately or soon shut down there own streams of TV1/2/3/C4 and MaoriTV and just point subscribers to the Freeview service...
