Model advice aside, the usual things apply. The difference in sub performance often comes down to the listening room and the sub positioning. Reading reviews is often pointless as you'll be effectively listening to the bass response of the reviewers room... The ONLY way to know what sub will work for you, it to place two of them in your room for an a-b performance test. Buying subs and speakers on-line is a crapshoot at best. My $0.10.

... all fair enough, but not really a realistic option for everyone, you know - many of us don't have either the selection available locally, or shops that will let us try before you buy, or the money to be able to trial multiple options (as mentioned, it would be an additional $240 to trial a second sub). At least in this case, SVS subs come with a 45 day trial, so if it doesn't work out I have a return option.
I had two Velodyne's repaired recently, CHT10q and 12q. The 10q's module had blown and the 12q was emitting a high pitch frequency when not in use.
Anyway, I found that they come with a 5 year warranty so got them repaired free. So if yours is less than 5 years old take it into a repairer that's soundgroup holdings authorised, then flick it off on trademe
Not quite, without RCA's being connected but powered on. In any case the module was replaced too
Interesting to read of others reporting problems with this brand. When reading stuff on the net I came across a number of others with power supply problems with Velodyne subs.
Unfortunately mine was already s/h off TM so no chance of warranty repair! But this is the reason I'm staying away from Velodyne and also purchasing s/h. I don't want to be in the same position, having to replace it in only two years...
kendog: $1,200 for the PB2000 Have you considered that?
TBH, that's currently at the top of my list, despite it being at the total top end of (if not beyond) my budget. My concern (apart from the cost) is that being ported it may not be as tight as the SB2000 for music. Plus it's the size of a bus! Have you heard this and the SB2000, and if so how you would compare them?
Edit- the other downside of both the SB and PB 2000 is the $120 delivery charge!
I have only head the pc13 compared to my velodyne and energy subs. A PC2000 was released by svs today. Solves the size problem, other than height.
