My issue with the latest remotes is that the play/pause, forward and back buttons are at the TOP of the remote. WHY!?!?!

Instead of gripping the remote from the bottom, wrapping your thumb around it and controlling it that way...
You pick it up from the time and use your index finger when you want to control it.

Oh.. Yah I get it now. I know another company who did this:

Apple - You're Holding it wrong!

I can't even imagine doing what you suggest, the models I want have a touchscreen and the risk of touching the screen with the palm of your hand is high.

Why would they mess with a formula which has worked perfectly for 20+ years?

I am tempted, but I have some other priorities at the moment.

Dunnersfella:
MikeAqua: The only issue I have with Harmony remotes is training the rest of the family to keep it pointed roughly at components until it has gone through the cycle of turning everything on, selecting channels etc.

The Harmony Ultimate fixes that :-)

It is the one thing I dislike about my new Harmony remote - why did they put those buttons at the top?? Could they not have put the touch screen at the top, with those buttons directly below it? Would be so much better.

Deal breaker for me. I'll keep what I have until it's resolved. Hopefully with the newest models coming soon!.

So change is a bad thing?
I'm on the couch right now watching a BluRay...
If I reach to the coffee table for a remote I can grab my Harmony Ultimate and pause it by picking it up from above, then I simply press the pause button.
Or I can grab it from below, then shuffle my hand to the top and hit the controls like I would with the BluRay remote.
Either way is good.

Now my TV remote has play/pause buttons at the bottom, but due to its length and weight, it's actually fairly tricky to drive the BluRay player with these.

Having said that, they're all a LOT better than using an App. to control my kit.
