I had another look. There's no EIT data for Al Jazeera or Apna in the DVB-T EIT feed here. I expect MHEG 5 has the same limitations. Freeview Satellite doesn't have those channels, so no data to check there.

pwrman: interesting you can't get the data either, perhaps the good folk at AJ have taken the long weekend off! Perhaps it becomes a wait and see situation.

It's more than just AJ. There's a general issue. Data is only available up to (and including Thursday) when it should be available up until next Sunday.

Where did you see the comment about C++ 2010?

sorry for the delay in responding. The C++ message come up in a 3rd installation on a Toshiba notebook. I will try deleting all files and directories to do with EPG and trying a re-install. If the problem persists, it probably warrants a new topic (because error 13 is no longer the issue). The Error 13 message was largely resolved by using the 562 frequency for Auckland.

The #1 & #2 installations have worked intermittently, despite the correct frequency and high signal strength. The #2 installation is currently not working and produces a win7 message saying 'EPG Centre has stopped working'. The detailed description appears to indicate a problem with 'signature', and 'System.FormatException'

On install #2 I have just tried deleting an reinstalling from scratch, and also a complete Win7 'system restore', to no avail. The 1st run gathered data (~7,000 entries) but did not import them into WMC. The 2nd & subsequent runs produced 'EPG Centre has stopped working'.

It seems strange that I am having this amount of inconsistency of 3 different PCs. Does anyone achieve reliable performance with this software?

I remain hopeful someone can help, but I can't afford to continue to waste many hours of time if it is a hopeless cause. many thanks

I'm in Auckland pointed at the sky tower for Freeview terrestrial.

I came to the forum for a look because I realised my EPG wasn't working properly. When I ran a collection manually I got a Error code 13.

It looks like the EPG guide isn't being transmitted on 530 any more.

562 is working fine.

I thought I'd clarify the freeview frequencies. There are only 6 (2 sets of 3) in use across the country, and you'll only get three of them. They should all broadcast
Mheg5 EPG data for 8 days. The frequency sets are:

562, 578, 594
570, 586, 602

They belong to, Mediaworks, TVNZ, and Kordia in that order.

@andrewNZ
The frequencies you identified are indeed the MediaWorks, TVNZ and Kordia/JDA frequencies for almost all regions. However, don't forget that in some areas with significant population, there are additional Freeview and local frequencies:

  • World TV (integrated with Freeview) on 530 and 538 MHz... except in Auckland, where I think World TV and TVNZ are swapped
  • Auckland, Hawkes Bay, Rotorua, Nelson, and Otago have a local frequencies at 514 and/or 522 MHz which may or may not be integrated with Freeview
You can see these details on the official RSM website:
http://www.rsm.govt.nz/online-services-resources/publications/broadcasting/digital-television-channel-usage-table
http://www.rsm.govt.nz/online-services-resources/pdf-and-documents-library/publications-and-guides/broadcasting/digital-television-channel-usage/table-of-digital-television-channel-useage

Note: up until very recently (the last 2 months) certain regions also used alternative frequencies in the 600 to 700 MHz range due to various considerations related to license conditions and digital switch over. I'm not 100% sure if all of those alternative assignments have been consolidated as the PDF/table linked above shows... but that was the most concise and up-to-date information I could find (short of searching the RSM radio frequency database).

I had the same issue.  was running 538 for many years and it suddenly stopped collecting EPG (error 13).
Changed to 570.  All good again.  :-)
