Have any Auckland users experienced 'error 13'? (no data collected)? I used the default frequency 550 MHz, which apparently belongs to Sky TV. I am running Win 7 , 64 bit Sony, and Windows Media Centre. Current performance is only 1 or two hours into the future, I am aiming for more 1 day or more. I am line of sight (5km) with the Sky Tower transmitter. I can see this is a good program, just need the final 5% of advice to get it working. thanks

Just to be clear to anyone who can help him the OP is using EPG Collector for NZ terrestrial using 530 MHz and getting no signal lock.

Anybody know what frequency he should be using?

550 MHz is not a valid frequency.
554 MHz is Igloo's frequency from Waitarua. AFAIK you won't get Freeview EPG from that transmitter.

If your aerial is pointed at the Sky Tower then AFAIK the frequencies are:
514 MHz = Kordia/Nathan Jang
530 MHz = Freeview TVNZ
546 MHz = Sky Igloo
562 MHz = Freeview MediaWorks
578 MHz = Freeview World TV
594 MHz = Freeview Kordia

Thanks. To be clear then any of those Sky Tower frequencies would carry the whole EPG or does the OP need to scan more than one?

many thanks for that. Yes, I made a typo in my question, 530 MHz is the freq producing the 'error 13' message. I have tried some of the other freq's but they produce an 'error 10' . I am only seeking freeview channel EPG . Is there one frequency for TV1,2,3,4, Maori, Prime, Choice & Al Jazeera? I am happy to provide my contact details if an Auckland user would like to chat.

I will try all the frequencies again one by one.

I don't know about the 514 MHz frequency. The other non-Igloo frequencies should work fine with an MHEG 5 collection. An EIT collection on those Freeview frequencies should also work.

OP, perhaps you should reset the Windows Media Centre database, scan the channels again and then run the EPG Collector?

Well, as the "read-me" says:

The following exit codes are returned by the standalone collection process.

   0 = run successful, all data collected
   1 = no DVB tuners detected
   2 = failed to open the initialization file
   3 = the initialization parameters are incorrect
   4 = the command line is incorrect
   5 = a program exception has occurred
   6 = run completed but data incomplete
   7 = cancelled by user
   8 = the initialization parameters do not match the tuner configuration or there is a parameter conflict.
   9 = cannot write log file
   10 = some frequencies could not be processed
   11 = the output file could not be created
   12 = the simulated input data failed
   13 = run completed normally but no data collected
   14 = no BDA tuner filter located
   15 = the hardware filter chain could not be built

What type of data are you trying to collect? It should be MHEG 5. EIT *may* also work.

I guess that means the tuner failed to lock in on signal... but I could be wrong.

Okay. So, don't use the 514 or 546 MHz frequencies.

The frequency shouldn't matter for EPG collection... as long as you use a Freeview frequency.

For the record, I think the channels themselves are as follows...
TV ONE, TV2, TV ONE plus 1 and TV2 + 1 are on the TVNZ frequency (530 MHz) as you'd expect.
TV3, FOUR, TV3 PLUS1, FOUR Plus 1, The Edge TV and The Shopping Channel are on the MediaWorks frequency (562 MHz).
Most of the others including Maori TV, PRIME and Choice TV are on the Kordia frequency (594 MHz).
I think Al Jazeera is on the World TV frequency, but I could be wrong.

many thanks for respective comments. Responding to some points:
1) the signal for normal viewing of WMC is fine, aerial seems to have a good signal, USB TV (Kaiser Bass) stick seems to be working fine on both channels. The only real problem is that following a HDD crash, new HDD and reinstall of Win7 that the EPG is now only 1 or 2 hours in advance of real time, was previously up to 6 hours for text, and 2 days for timeslots.

2) the data I am seeking I suppose you could call metadata, namely the TV programme timeslots, and the text for TV programme title, hopefully 1 or 2 days ahead.

3) I'm afraid I am ignorant of: i) which type of file I need to be seeking, ii) whether I need to run the EPG collector multiple times to get all the freeview channels, iii) or even how to get obtained data into WMC.

4) perhaps this software is restricted to those with quite advanced computer skills? I am no mug in that department but this seems way hard. I am also not seeking a 'free-ride', if someone wants to make some $ from helping. I can see this software has good functionality, but that is academic if one can only get 95% of the way there, might as well be 0%. I have now spent 30 hours over the course of several weeks trying to figure out the puzzle! I remain hopeful, and thank people for their help.

Both channels?
There are approximately 20 channels available via Freeview HD. When you say "both" it makes it sound like you only have 2. If that is true that would be unusual, and probably indicative of additional problems.

It sounds like WMC is attempting to grab data for you. If you've got signal strength/quality problems then that may explain why you don't have as much data as you have become accustomed to, and also explain why you're having trouble with EPG Collector.

Freeview broadcasts 8 days of what you're calling metadata - program start and end times, titles, descriptions etc.

i) Files have nothing to do with it. When it comes to EPG Collector: if you're unsure about the collection type then stick with MHEG 5.
ii) You don't.
iii) EPG Collector can be configured to import it for you. That option is (or was) on the "output" tab in the "Windows Media Centre Options" section. You should also tick "disable in-band guide loader" in the same section.

EPG Collector is very flexible and powerful... but a basic setup for Freeview should not be too complex.
If nobody else has offered to assist you then I'd be happy to attempt to set EPG Collector up for you. $ not required. Note that I don't live anywhere near Auckland, so I'd need remote access to your PC. TeamViewer - which does not require setup... or even installation (!!!) - could be used for that.

many thanks for your interest MM. You are very kind to offer assistance. The issue has now changed somewhat, as below.

To clarify: when I said 'both', that is referring to both tuners in a Kaiser Bass dual USB dongle. The aerial is possibly not helping, but has been working fine (with periodic re-tuning) for a couple of years. The only this to have changed is the re-install of Win7 recently.

Since my last comment though, I do now have the EPG working on two PC's. By trial and error, 562 MHz is the correct frequency for my location (not the default 530 MHz). The EPG software has put the content into WMC forward about 7 days, with the exception of Al Jazeera and TV1+1. I am not sure whether this will be automatic in future, or whether I need to run it manually every week?

On the 3rd PC, I am getting an 'error 5' , indicating that file: PSIMemoryShare.dll is missing. It is in fact present in the software's directory. In looking thru' previous forum postings, one suggestion was installing C++ 2010 which I have now done, but that has not cured it. There was also advice to delete and reinstall. There appears to be no ability to uninstall perse, so tried deleting the program directory, and starting again, but still comes up with error 5.

In summary:

Problem A: Al Jazeera & TV1+1 EPG data has not loaded (on PC #1 & #2)
Problem B: 'Error 5' 'PSIMemoryShare.dll missing' (on PC #3)

The original problems (error 13) were apparently resolved by using 560 MHz, and also switching off WMC while seeking the EPG data.

Check the EPG Collector.log file to see if it collected any data for TV1+1 or AL J.

There is a view of the log available in EPG Centre and the stats are at the end of each collection run.

the log indicates that for most channels that I normally receive in Auckland that there are 150 to 200 records, but for Al Jazeera just 8 records, and for channels outside Auckland that I can't receive, likewise 8 records.

Strangely (perhaps) all the '+1' channels are now populated, leaving only AJ. An earlier comment indicated that AJ might be on the 'World' frequency, but I'm not sure how to include more than one frequency. Additionally, at the moment even 'real time' metatdata is not showing for AJ, which might indicate that the data is not being broadcast at all? (at the moment, (normally I receive it ok)).

If AJ was the only problem, I could do without. But the 2nd issue of 'Error 5' on my PC#3 is more problematic. (missing file PSIMemoryShare.dll)

8 records suggest about 12 hours of programmes.

To collect on another frequency load your parameters into EPG Centre and on the Tuning tab just select the AL J frequency, choose EIT as the Collection type and click Add.

Save the parameters and try a collection.

If it doesn't work you can always delete the AJ frequency by loading the parameters into EPG Centre, clicking on the frequency in the list at the bottom of the Tuning tab and press Delete. Save the parameters again.

I think the current issues with EPG are affecting Al Jazeera. I don't have any EPG data for Al Jazeera here today either.

interesting you can't get the data either, perhaps the good folk at AJ have taken the long weekend off! Perhaps it becomes a wait and see situation.
