538MHZ (100%)

Sources 3 and 4 are ticked.

Sources 1,2,5,6 are not ticked with frequencies of 537.833 (71%) for 1 and 2, 538.167 (71%) for 5 & 6. If that is of any help to you?

Thanks

OMG it works!

Please excuse my ignorance (and pc stupidity) but it now works because I have just selected waiatarua - Auckland. I didn't try it previously because I thought it was west Akl, ooops sorry.

Thanks to everyone that helped, you have made my month.

Let's see if I can do the schedule by myself lol.

Thanks again

No problem. Glad it's working.

Just two more questions (honest! Lol)

Once the schedule has been setup and you click run to test it. Should it show on desktop on does it just run in the background?

Can I create another parameter with slightly different settings so i can use it with media portal as well?

You can check the EPG Collector log to see if your scheduled job ran.

Yes, you can call the parameter file whatever you want. Just name it differently when you 'Save As'.

Cool thanks.

I've just done that, and media portal epg worked. However, I closed it down and reopened it (a little while later) and one or two of these channels text changed to Russian or something (weird characters)

The biggest concern tho is that WMC no longer has its epg data.
I thought it might just need running again. Ran the collector, completed OK. But no change in WMC.
I restarted the pc but still no change.

Any ideas what it could be?

Sorry

Not sure about the MP problem but for the WMC issue you should set the following options on the Output tab

Create data for channels with the same name if data not present
Automatically map EPG data to channels
Disable in-band guide loader

I'm sorry I havent replied sooner.

All of the above had been checked.

I ran the log collector anyway, and the one for WMC said it had failed. I ran the one for Media Portal and it completed ok.

After the reboot Media Portal had not changed at all (still foreign language), but the weird thing is WMC had a fully loaded /working EPG.
As it's working, I'm too scared to change anything else lol.

My next task is to get WMC to wake up, record, and then go back to sleep. The issue I'm having tho is that the PC would wake up every five minutes from sleep or hibernation to do something.
I removed the following from waking the computer (as per google search):

Bios settings
Mouse
Keyboard
Network adapter
Pretty much everything in Windows task scheduler
I ran cmd, and the only two items allowed to wake pc are my hp ir usb receiver, and wireless keyboard.

The only thing that stopped the pc waking up was to disable 'wake up from sleep to do tasks' in the advanced power options. But now I'm guessing that WMC cant wake up if this isnt enabled.

Anyone have any ideas? Or should I be moving this to a different topic?

Start a new topic in the HTPC forum for the waking up issue.

If you want to pursue the MP problem just ask.

Thanks for that I only installed media portal as back up to we WMC. I'll try and get WMC sorted first before I try anything else.

I'll start another thread in regards to other issues.

Thanks for all of your help!

@33coupe
The reason you're having problems with MediaPortal is that MediaPortal's EPG grabber (which is enabled in your setup) is overwriting the EPG Collector data that you're pulling in with the XMLTV plugin. To fix, simply disable the MediaPortal EPG grabber as follows:

  1. Open TV Server Configuration.
  2. Go to the "DVB EPG" section.
  3. Untick the 2 "enabled" checkboxes.

Now to get rid of the garbled EPG:

  1. Go to the "manual control" section.
  2. Click "refresh DVB EPG" (this will clear out all the EPG).
  3. Go to the XMLTV plugin.
  4. Click "import".
