Everytime I do this I get whate knuckes waiting to see if it will reboot again and come back after seeing some of the horror stories in the NMT support forum..

Then you can order one for yourself.

They have a Ethernet interface, then you could use a wifi router like a Linksys WRT54GL and use that to connect to the wireless network.

I believe they are working on releasing a USB Wifi adapter... but nothing is there yet.

But with the firmware release prior to the current if I skipped through a MKV file (with AVC video and AC-3 audio) it would lose audio and I would have to restart which is real pain. Now with the latest firmware I can skip through a video fine and not lose audio. I am using the MyiHome http server to serve up content.

Thanx. That fixed the problem. Now plays all files in a row or by skipping to next.. Just needs the audio codec for NZ Freeview included then I may make a HTPC for recording HD content and then play via the PCH..

That indeed is my plan. Until that firmware is released not even bothering to install my HVR-3000.

I am using a different solution that seems to work fine.

Scenario - PVR connected to home network via wireless (802.11a).

Connect the PCH to the PVR over ethernet using a RJ45 crossover cable. Assign fixed IP addresses to the NIC in the PVR (which is otherwise not used) and to the PCH (same subnet of course). Now they are connected.

Run MyiHome on the PVR serving up content on the fixed IP address on the NIC. Configure MyiHome to serve up content on shares that are actually mapped to drives on my content server (over wireless).

Now the PCH can "see" drives that are on the server without actually having a direct network connection to them.

I was surprised that it works but it works really well. I suspect that part of the success is that the PCH actually buffers content so even if you have intermittent drops in your wireless connection, the buffering handles that.

Nothing special. Just an Sempron 64 3600 1G memory, running Windowx XP. PVR software is gbpvr but that doesn't feature in this setup. http server for the PCH is MyiHome which Syabas provide free primarily for the PCH.

i ordered my popcorn hour on may 2nd should be here tomorrow according to the tracking number i payed $330 including gst for it ,got from the popcorn website ....
will keep u posted how it works out ,pm me if any body got sum fast tips for it ...

Cost me $224 US so about NZ$295 once the conversion was done. OF course with the Kiwi dollar heading west its going to get more expensive.

Suprised you had to pay GST. Normaly they let it though as long as the GST component would be less then $50.

Edit confirmed.. from customs site

yeah i thought i might get away with the gst ,but they dhl rang me up ,so didnt have much choice , i payed US$45 for the freight ..cant do much about these things ......
was thinking of getting the tvix box 6500a ,they been having series problems with this box , only wanted it for the add on HDTV which would probably not have worked here anyway ....that was going to cost $400 u s,plus frieght another $45 u.s .....would have got duty and gst on that too would have been near $600 to 700 bucks too much, only a few things derfent to the popcorn main one is hdmi 1.2 ..... then u got the warranty issues to worry about too etc ..went for the popcorns (btw i still hate the name who would call a media player popcorn could have come up with a lavish name lol )
