Try ndscam 0.0.0.6 and see if you get any further with it going... they did a few fixes for nz with 0.0.0.6.

mcraenz: Nice! Do you need to put your card back in the decoder every week or so to stop it being de-activated.

I was thinking along similar lines. Do changes to your subscription work with this setup (without putting it back into the sky decoder)?

mcraenz: It won't "officially" work with MediaPortalTVServer But I belive there are ways to use soft cams. Just don't discuss it on the MP forums the admins might just hang, draw and quarter you!

Hm, interesting they dont like discussion of it. Would it be fairly simple to get this working with mediaportal with that program? Know of anyone who has done similar with mediaportal?

Any compaibile smartcard readers readily available in NZ? I'm quite interested in doing this, and how it works out for you long term (eg having to reset as mentioned). This could solve my fitting sky into a mediacentre problem. Somehow i dont think it will work with Mysky HDi though.

im using a v1 skycard with ndscam 0.0.0.5, never used to work though gave "CA error" so had to get the owner (not going to mention his name here) to reprogram it, works after that but has glitches every 10secs. anyone else having problems with 10sec glicthes? i found a way around this by recording the encrypted TS stream then using OfflineDescrambler with ndscam to decrypt the TS file.  im using altdvb with a skystar2 dvb-s card, got a phoenix programmer connected directly to the com1 port on the back of my computer using a serial cable. would a usb programmer with serial emulation elimiate the 10sec glitches? the main reason for the glitches is because when the ecm packet changes every 10secs, ndscam then has to read new control words (DCW's) from the skycard, the time taken to read these control words is around 750ms, during this time the incomming TS stream remains encrypted.  OfflineDescrambler however pauses the decryption process when it detects a ecm change, it wont continue to decrypt the TS stream untill it recieves new control words from the ndscam.

I am locking this discussion now because reprogramming cards is not something we allow to be discussed here on Geekzone.
