That would've been newer than my first, where the camera had a 3.5" disk drive and could store around ten 640x480 photos if I recall correctly.

One of those has been cluttering up dad's garage for maybe 15 years now...

As for me... fortunately I haven't done too badly. I got a cheap(ish) PlayStation VR a year ago and probably haven't "justified" it yet; I had to make a concerted effort to go to the trouble of using it (but when I do, I'll end up using it for hours). That's probably the most expensive mostly-unused "toy" in my collection.

I can’t say there’s much really. I undertake so much research before buying these days I’m rarely disappointed. There was a cheap android tablet I bought years ago that took longer than a C64 to boot from tape.

I got a Dell Axim X5 I think the model was. Way cool. Windows Mobile, wifi, email, I thought it was magic. Bought extras for it too. Cost just south go 1k. Awesome. Ended up in drawer less than a month later. If it had a sim capability, it would have been the great device I thought it was.

Probably an unpopular choice but Nexus 6P. Based on what everyone says I must have gotten a lemon. I sent it back about 5 times for various issues had just about every component of it replaced and it still ran like crap.

I completely (deliberately) forgot about an Oculus Rift headset that’s tucked in a cupboard somewhere round here. I had a new 15” MacBook Pro at the time (2015? 16?) but soon discovered that there wasn’t enough graphics horsepower in that to light up the VR kit. My enthusiasm deflated instantly.

I checked it on a 970GTX powered desktop to make sure it actually did work, then wrapped the stupid, resource hungry junk in the metres of cable permanently attached to the Oculus & stuck it in a discreet cupboard - reading this thread reminded me that I own one,with a total runtime of < 10 minutes. I’m not even going to bother writing a Trademe listing - the next time I see it, I’ll bin it.
