hellonearthisman: Catalyst® Version 08.7 is what isn'tr working for me.

Just downloading version 08.7 from ATI http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

They have had a case of stupid on the installer, as they force you to install a fee trial of WOW.

Thanks for the heads up.

Hows the 8.7 drivers doing with powerdvd 8 patch hardware acceleration?

With the 8.5 drivers powerdvd 8 patch hardware acceleration works with all channels but sometimes channels TVNZ SPORT EXTRA, C4 and Kordia channels go all blocky when switching to them. When that happens i switch to tv1 then back and that fixes it.

hellonearthisman:
kiwijunglist: Does Arcsoft TotalMedia H264 Codec still suffer from the same ati hardware deinterlacing bug that PDVD8 suffers from.

ie. PDVD8 + Hardware Acceleration + ATI Card (eg. onboard ATI HD3200) + C4/TVNZ6+7 = Green blocky bits

Yes it does but there is an option to turn off hardware acceleration, which causes it to play without the green.
I still use PDVD8 as it works better for me.

ATI have really dropped the ball in foxing this green problem,  not even Mauricio visit with some of ati's top people has fixed this (nice try Mauricio thanks).

I'm looking at getting a nividia card as they work.

Does the new ATI 8.52 Display Driver (Contained in Catalyst 8.8) solve the hardware deinterlacing problem?

So for my typo.

Driver Packaging Version    8.522-080731a-067981C-ATI
Catalyst® Version    08.8
Provider    ATI Technologies Inc.
2D Driver Version    7.01.01.809
2D Driver File Path    /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0000
Direct3D Version    7.14.10.0603
OpenGL Version    6.14.10.7873
Catalyst® Control Center Version    2008.0731.2322.39992

I think it does fix the problem,   I have tried a few codec and no green.  I could be wrong though.

CPU is at 9% GPU %5  which is a change form the %30 it use to take.

Strange how GPU is only %5. But if CPU is only 9% then hw decoder is probably working.

p.s When i said 8.5 drivers i meant display driver. I have Catalyst 8.6 installed.

It looks like the newest ati drivers work.  No Green anymore and I have got powerdvd set to use hardware.

I tried installing the trial version of this myself today, because I'm only getting 35fps on the 720p channels as well and I have an NVidia 7600GS.

I got an error message when trying to run it in DVBviewer, "could not locate MagCore.dll"

I tried reinstalling it, but no luck. Do I need the full version maybe?

Sounds like a DVBView problem.

freitasm: Installed this on my Windows Vista box, when I try to start it comes with "An internal exception occurred". Dvbviewer can't use the decoder complaining it's not installed, even though it's listed.

Removing it.

Does indeed look like dvbviewer is not able to use this codec.

It has fixed my dropped frame issues on 720p using Media Portal.

Are you sure this is working? Using a .ts I couldn't get the pins to connect in graphedit and while I could select the codec in MediaPortal it was still using the cyberlink decoder as shown by grphedit "Connect to remote graph"Can anyone confim that mediaportal is actually using the codec?

The improved the channel change speeds and better frame rates might be all in your heads! Tongue out

Can I ask how long you have had the Arcsoft codec installed for? Evidently it has a trial period of 14 days. According to my install, it has been installed for 12 days, but some week or so ago, my H.264 decoding reverted to the issue I had using the PowerDVD7 codec. I have just tested with Graphedit & you are correct with your statement on the remote graph using the PowerDVD codec.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if the system was restored, or an earlier image restored & the Arcsoft package reinstalled. I will try it & see the results when I get the opportunity. May not happen until after the Olympics. Will post results.

Your 7600GS is not going to do DXVA acceleration properly.

Wonder if changing the clock back will work?

I got the same problem. Workaround was to copy all the mag*.dll files to the MediaPortal install folder. This codec seems to perform better than the PowerDVD 8 codec.

Slightly off topic, but I had installed this program to have a peek, then uninstalled it a little while later

There is a little banner on the desktop saying that Totalmedia is not registered. I have uninstalled the program, manually removed remaining components, searched for and deleted registry entries, run a reg cleaner and rebooted and its still there...

Anyone know how to get rid of this thing?
