65" C8 is $4299 at HN tomorrow. Had a look after work and signs were up.

That’s a bit average as it’s only about $200 off the existing price, makes the price of the B8 at Noel Leeming look pretty good.

Asking in store for a bit more off to avoid you going to their main competitor to buy the B8 might work. Still may not be enough though to justify the higher cost for the C8.

I've done that, they say they're hardly making any money as it is.
I put some cash down earlier in the week while they shipped one in which apparently locks in the Prezzy deal - brings it to $4000.

But even then I'm not sure it's better than the B8 at $3400 - given that the models coming out in a month have HDMI 2.1. (which by the way is super confusing as it's more HDMI 3 than a minor bump)

Early days but the Sony 65" A8F is sitting at Noel's for $3995. And the LG B8 is $3777. If you want the B8, do it now and claim the $300 Prezzy card that ends today

Unrelated to Easter, but Manawatu SoundHub has just launched their online store and is doing 20% store-wide. Considering an SVS PB-1000 for $959, since that seems about as cheap as they get.

Is this soundhub online store legitimate? It seems very short on contact details.

It should be these guys but funnily enough I can't seem to find the original Facebook post on that page that linked to the website.

I work virtually next to them, so I might pop in and verify that it is indeed their website tomorrow.

Interestingly, they have a website in the same name as the physical store - Manawatu Sound Hub, which is very much a legit store; in the same shop as the old Manawatu TV and Sound building in the Square (PN).

https://www.manawatusoundhub.co.nz/

That looks very much like a placeholder site (he says being kind!), and I note that it lists the same phone number as the https://soundhub.co.nz/ website.

They should make the connection clear if they are one and the same firm, as well as providing full contact details on the new site.

I'd have thought there was a clear benefit in being able to demonstrate that you were a bricks and mortar store, not only from a trust angle but also the ability for people to view/listen/check out products.

I'm guessing Soundhub could be franchised / expanded upon, whereas the name Manawatu Soundhub would need to drop the word 'Manawatu'...

It's a genuine site, run by the guy who runs the store in Palmie.

That'd be good if you could verify . They have one of the best ever sales on svs gear.

I spoke to the owner today and it is indeed their website. As @Dunnersfella correctly interpreted, they wanted to make the web-store a national internet-based arm of the company only loosely connected back to the Manawatu store. It sounds like they are just soft launching it at the moment.

Since I was there, I figured I'd also sample a fine PB-2000. I wonder if I put a table cloth on it, I could pass it off as a new side table....

Also I was down at Harvey Norman, and if any one wants to play the OLED lottery, they will apparently do their demo C8 for mid $3Kish.

Nice, good to know.

Did the pb2000 sound OK?   I cheaped out a bit on the last sub (still $700 tho), probably shouldn't have, thus considering the upgrade.

I'm not gonna lie, I think that is probably the first time I have auditioned a subwoofer haha.

From my inexperience, it sounded pretty good! Lots of low rumble, smoothness, and punch. This was in a purpose built demo room with most of Klipsch's mid-range catalogue though. For the price, there doesn't seem to be much competition here to be honest.

I wasn't able to compare it side-by-side with a PB1000 as they didn't have one, but I would probably just go straight to the PB2000 now to be honest.

Do it!

Hey folks.  Looking at getting a 75" to mount at my martial arts school. Was looking at the veon for $2K at the warehouse but just noticed they've dropped the price of a 75" Toshiba down to match for easter.  My instinct is to go with the toshiba purely on brand recognition and the fact it's usually priced higher which could speak to higher quality.  Any thoughts?

I don't think they are true toshibas.  Toshiba exited the TV business a few years ago and sold the branding rights to hisense.

So, you're getting a hisense tv, not toshiba.

I don't know what hisense TV's are like, but don't be fooled by the toshiba branding.

I don't know about the 75 model but we needed big tv's to bung around work with a Chromecast ultra attached to all. Veon was the cheapest option with the best warranty I could find. The overall picture is average (I have Oled at home) but staff don't care. We got the 4k 55s at $500 with the ultra included free. One year later all 3 work just fine and happy staff.
