Historically what can we expect from Easter Sales in NZ? Are they worth waiting for?

I'm in the market for an OLED TV either 55"or 65".On Boxing day the LG B8 65" hit $3700 - is now around $4300  (albeit with a $300 prezzy card).

Can we expect anything similar or are big drops usually reserved for Boxing day?

Will be watching this with interest. After a 65 OLED as well, that LG B8 was $3800 a couple weeks back at the Harvey Norman VIP night, almost pulled the pin but elected to wait till Easter.

Around now is also when they're clearing out old stock in preparation for the new 2019 models. I believe LG are launching here around the middle of May.

I’m also in the exact same boat with an OLED TV and have also been holding off until now as I knew this is about the time of year they want to start getting rid of 2018 models, so I’m hoping Easter delivers.

Apparently there's only a few 65" B8s available in the country - for those wanting one.

My fridge spat the dummy a couple of weeks ago so hoping to be able to get a discount somewhere.  Bit of a shame it happened just after lots of places were having end of financial year sales :(

Early days but the Sony 65" A8F is sitting at Noel's for $3995. And the LG B8 is $3777. If you want the B8, do it now and claim the $300 Prezzy card that ends today

Unrelated to Easter, but Manawatu SoundHub has just launched their online store and is doing 20% store-wide. Considering an SVS PB-1000 for $959, since that seems about as cheap as they get.

Go for it, you know you want it!

Do SoundHub let you trial any of their equipment in your own home? If so, that could be worth a go, but I certainly don't have any regrets about buying an SVS sub without trialling it in my own system first.

Speaking of which, man they've gone up in price! I've just checked the invoice for my PB-2000 - full retail was $1199 (the same as the PB-1000's current retail); it's now $1899, an increase of 58% in that 4.5 year period.

I've been thinking about upgrading my sub... checked the prices on pricespy and those SVS subs are almost never on sale. eg, the pb2000 has been $1799 since 2017 (it did drop to $1703 for a few days but that is such a tiny discount) .

Soundhub are doing a 20% discount, which is not on pricespy though. Getting out my tape measure now haha.

I think that's partly down to the way Rapollo - one of the main SVS retailers - used to run their sales; by memory, it was via a discount code entered at the checkout, so that wouldn't show on PriceSpy. I recall some 20% off codes in the past, but I think there have been fewer of them in more recent times.

Yeah the B8 deal is tempting. I was hoping the C8 might drop down < $4k but perhaps it has more demand so stores are happy to see it through at the prices there is now.

Oh I definitely know I want it haha, its just trying to sneak it past the appropriate authorities since I have already "ruined" the living room with the AVR, Xbox, and speakers. Oh well, I guess I have until the end of the the month to make it work, people.

Not sure if they do, maybe I will have to wander past and play the part of potential buyer #2. Although, I will have to do it under the cover of darkness, for reasons above.

Damn, they know how to print money. Considering I could import a pair of 18" Ultimax drivers for less....

Yeah, that seems to be about the size of it. Funny how it seems to be a bit hit-and-miss around the world whether the B and C series are either within arms reach of each other, or a healthy margin between. Probably why there are multiple retailers selling the C series and few selling the B series.

I'm also on the fence about whether I save my pennies a little while longer and wait for some Black Friday/Boxing Day deals on the C9 later in the year, since it will have HDMI 2.1.
