You may need to be a bit careful with that one, even if says it "supports" HDR.

The cheaper TVs can sometimes accept HDR over their HDMI inputs but only have an 8 bit panel so can't take advantage.

A bit like back in the day when you could buy a 720p TV that could take a 1080p signal but had to downscale.

I wouldn't know what 10 bit hdr vs 8 bit hdr would look, I'm happy with any hdr

I bought the 65U98 about 6 weeks ago for 999 + 65 delivery probably the same as simon14, I haven't seen it back on The Warehouse website since I bought it, and feel it is such a bargain, so it is a slightly different model from the one you are looking at.

The android is version 8.0 (I think)

I downloaded a system information app from the android app store and it has a MT5891 processor with Mali t860 graphics, 2GB RAM and approx 12 GB storage with about 9GB available. This has been used in many Sonys that also have Android.

The TV seems to be a rebadged 'Skyworth Globe'

The picture is vastly superior to a VEON, but probably not up there with LG, Panasonic etc but only noticeable if you have one side by side to compare and if you are coming from anything older than a few years it will feel like a huge step up.

My model has front facing speakers and it is LOUD, we like to watch real quiet after putting the kids to bed and this TV feels too loud on '1' but the sound is great, the sound is clear and volume goes up nicely, no need for a sound bar unless you want more bass.

Only thing that is a little disappointing is that live pause does not work when hbbtv is switched on, and this is required for Freeview on Demand. Not sure if this is problems for all TVs?

All the Android stuff is smooth and quick, 4k playback on YouTube, Netflix works a charm, I have a hard wired network connection so can't comment on wifi performance. Any questions just shoot

Theres no way that Toshiba will have a 10bit panel, not at that price and size.

If you're deadset on having HDR I wouldn't bother with the Toshiba as its not really HDR as it will never be bright enough to take advantage.

it says 4k HDR and WCG on the box it came in. Also localised dimming.

And watching 'Our Planet' on Netflix blows my mind.

In my local Warehouse I'm pretty sure they had the 75inch Toshiba so you can pop down and check for yourself.

Dial111 seems pretty confident but I would be more wary than him before so confidently declaring it not to be 'not really HDR'.

Although I am coming from a 8 year old 40 inch Sony so might be easily impressed.

But again I can only talk for the model I got.

I’d love to be wrong, that real estate at that price point would be phenomenal if it included HDR10 or Dolby Vision. It wouldn’t replace my C8 OLED or the X900E in the bedroom but would be perfect for the man cave right before the RWC, 75” in all its glory

If you are expecting to keep the TV for any period of time longer than 2-3 years, ignore any of the "smart features" , there is absolutely no guarantee that they will be supported or updated.....

Make your decision based on the quality of Panel, deal with everything else with a STB...

You sure you are not confusing Samsung, LG ect preinstalled proprietary software with Android TV? Because if you have Android TV you would be fine for much longer than 2 / 3 years ?

as i said, anything not OLED it ain't matter if it's dark 8 bit HDR like my "HDR10" TCL is, i just like to have the picture showing as HDR and my mind is happy.

Well I’ve just ordered one and got TWH to match the price from the weekend, I asked the question re the panel and TWH got in contact with Toshiba and the tv is in fact a 10bit panel with full support for HDR10.

I can retire the man cave tv now.
