Fair comment. My ceiling certainly isn't Atmos optimised :-)

Sonos' argument is that their TruePlay optimisation will fix all those things  Maybe they re right... certainly our (corner of the L-shaped living area under a pitched roof) setup will be a challenge!

I thought TruePlay was largely just an excuse to apply a smiley face EQ to their speakers...?

Or is walking around the room waving your iPhone going to fix the room issues for your sound bar now?

I got this free with my TV

https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/shop/audio/home-audio/sound-bars/samsung-hw-r450-xy-hw-r450-soundbar/prod180912.html

then later added this to get rear sound (note speakers are hard wired to central box, central box bluetooths to above 2.1 sound bar).

I'm happy and get the sounds all coming from the right places.

How are the back speakers? Worth the money?

You only got a 4.1 speaker system it looks. Where's the center channel?

I have a Q Acoustics M3 soundbar, which is a fairly basic soundbar with HDMI ARC and bluetooth, and can be bought for about $600. It sounds good to my ears, but I don't have anything else decent to compare it with.

Can you plug a powered sub into the QAcoustic bar?

Not with the M3. I gather you can with the model up (M4). The M3 does have a reasonable amount of bass without.

Edit: But the M4 also loses HDMI ARC, I think.

Back speakers seem OK, I hear different sounds in them and makes it more surround feeling with other musics/sounds etc.

Yeah 4.1 but I think they merge the centre into the sound bar L/R - I used to have 5.1 via DVD player and this new set-up sounds better.
