old3eyes: It's a pity that the local networks don't buy the Hd versions i.e Heros and House come to mind though I see that Sarah Conner is in HD now.

It's interesting which shows are in HD and which aren't From recall on TV3 all the CSI shows (well Miami and NY), Bones, Survivor are/were in HD. Not sure about Heroes or House since I don't watch them. Isn't Lipstick Jungle in HD and 90210 was also till it got banished to C4! NO idea of TV1/2 since don't watch those channels - HD without surround sound just doesn't cut it for me.

I was also with world exchange/xnet and had 2 c&d , one for downloading an episode of Stargate Atlantis. i rung xnet regarding it, explained that i was downloading an episode of a program that i missed and they put a stop on the cancellation.

so i would recommend giving them a rind and see what they say.

i have since changed isp anyway due to the poor service from xnet.

That is no defence.

It won't matter what ISP you're with anyway once section 92a of the Coyright law comes into effect in February. Every ISP will have to act on C&D orders and will have no choice but to disconnect you as that's what the law says whereas at present most ISP's are simply ingoring these letters.

merve0o0 - I did ring up WXC and explain, but "missing an episode" doesnt quite cut it, and still ended up with my demerit points :-/

However, should I get pinged again, I may put up more of a fight so to speak, considering the episode that you download was one that you have missed in the normal screening of TV, and would have recorded it anyway had that episode not been missed in the first place.

I really dont understand who loses in this case - the TV station MAY lose out on advertising revenue, but usually if you are recording for later viewing, the recording medium, in most instances, has a FFwd function, so you are skipping adverts anyway. Even the humble VCR has the ability to skip adverts !!! Let alone any HDD Recorder / Tivo / HTPC !!
