I know this is very subjective but what about sound quality. Are these speakers able to produce a reasonable quality sound given price, size etc? In a retail store it is hard to get a 'household' idea of the quality and YouTube reviews are pointless for sound given so much compressions and equipment variables.

Are they like the Google Mini and Apple HomePod mini or are they close to a good shelf top stereo system?

Flexson is my go to. Most of mine are wall mounted.

They sound much better than Google mini or HomePod mini. Set it up in stereo and tune up using the app and you will be amazed at what you get for the money.

Make sure you go for Gen 2 Sonos one if you are getting new pair now.

There are already seven posts (out of 18 in this thread) attesting to the decent sound quality of the Ones - and none saying that they are no good.

Arsonist:

Has anyone wall mounted their Sonos One's? I am undecided which brand makes the best brackets. Flexson and Sanus seem to be popular options.

Our Ones are wall mounted. Some wall mount brackets are ridiculously expensive. I used these these which were $22 for a pair and they're fine. Flexson $99 each? pffft.

And I can add another positive for the Ones.  We have a stereo pair of Ones in the kitchen and they're great.  Sound is really good, can stream Apple Music, our own music library, radio stations, etc.  Having Alexa in the kitchen is really helpful too - for those times when you want to change the volume, but you have pulled pork rub all over your hands, etc.  The kids do tend to torment her a bit though.

As someone else has said - you are only getting positive comments. I really don't know what else you are going to get from this thread - can you trust the people who are responding or not? My main stereo is 2 channels components, I am embarrassed by how much it is worth, and sounds incredible. But for listening to music in our living and dining area - I absolutely love the quality and simplicity of the Sonos.

Yep also great for when you’re cooking or baking: “Alexa - timer, thirty-five minutes”.

Or converting recipes: “Alexa - what is four ounces in grams?” Or quickly checking °F > °C.

Or when you're getting into a heated conversation with the wife.  "Alexa, change the subject".  (try it)

@eracode I didn’t manage to get them due to supply chain issues. Also the staff at Harvey Norman, mmmm how should I put it? Ummm irritated me so I left and we went down the harbour for lunch and a drink. My wife told me could do the schemes I dreamed up for the HN staff, dammit.

I shall try online

I got a deal on a pair of One SLs from Newbolds ($638 shipped). Might be worth asking them?

I got them online, one from Harvey Norman and one from JB HiFi, as I couldn't get both from either
