Breezzee:

I ordered these for my Samsung HW-Q990B rear speakers only last month.

They are a perfect fit and even come with the correct size screws to mount the rear of speaker to the stands.

Also they are a nice solid build.

Very happy with the purchase.

https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07D14BNV5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

@Breezzee: can you please confirm whether the surrounds on the Q990B can be adjusted independently - ie adjust the left and right relative volume (as opposed to the rear-rear, rear-side and rear-up speakers - I know that’s possible)? I know this was a limitation of the Q950A, and hope they’ve sorted it in this new version.

The reason I ask is that I had a thought I could look to wall mount the rears instead of using stands, but the room’s not symmetrical which would be more noticeable with the surrounds on the wall. Knowing the L/R volume’s not adjustable would rule out wall-mounting.

Thanks heaps!

Evening

The only settings that are adjustable like you’re asking about are the ones as per the below screenshots.

I’ve used the tune auto EQ and Auto EQ

I’ve found it to suit our room with a well balanced sound stage. So much warmer than the LG SP11RA that we had before.

Blows the doors of the previous Samsung Soundbar we had.

Thanks so much, that was really helpful (and more so than the manual, which is pretty scant in detail!). Yep, it does look like they've not added this, but it is what it is... Enough reason to stick with the original idea of stands, just so we can move them around if balance is an issue.

Good to hear you you're liking the soundbar, though. I've only heard the Q990B in an open showroom, where it was totally underwhelming - which I blame entirely on this location and set-up; given I was suitably impressed with the Q950A when set up in a demo room is a great demonstration of why one should never rely on a showroom demo on which to base a decision! I'm now just waiting for it to come down a little, though assume it'll be a while to reach the common price of $1500 the Q950A was selling for, given it seems to be starting from a higher price.

Those 990B things are expensive. Its like inflation has gone up to 5% (very -ish) so they've actually stuck a 0 on the end of the 5...

I am looking for stands for my KEF "egg" speakers. I have the 2005.3 Sub/Sat system. The satellite speakers are HTS 2001.3 with SP3631 on the rear.

I found this thread while researching the Brateck Lumi SS01 that PB Tech sells. https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/MOABRA1095/Brateck-Lumi-SS01-Height-Adjustable-Metal-Satelite

Does anyone know if my satellite speakers will fit onto the SS01?

@theoldfarter: Do you mean these speakers?

KEF KHT 2005.3 - K1

Coincidentally, it was a set of these that I replaced with the soundbar! Are you thinking of retaining the speaker base (so seating that on the base of the stands), or resting the oval shape of the speaker on the base and relying on the screw at the back to hold it in place? (The adjustable strip through which that screw goes is fairly flexible so I'd not rely on it in this way.) Unfortunately I sold the speakers so can't test them out, but IIRC there's a bolt hole on the back centre of each speaker - is that correct? If so I think they'd easily attach to the adjustable strip. I have a feeling, though, that the base plate of the stands may be wider but shorter than that of the speakers (though you could measure yours to check - the stands' plates are 120x120 mm).

Something like these might do?

Thanks! Yeah, I had found those - probably the best-value solid stands I’ve seen, but sadly more designed for full ‘bookshelf’ sized speakers: the top plate is 22 x 22 cm, whereas the Samsung speakers are only 14 x 13 cm. If only they made a less substantial version of this for smaller/lighter speakers.

According to the manual the 22 x 22cm plate is attached to the top of the stand with a screw. What is the mounting arrangement of your speakers? If it's a single screw (like a camera) the thread might be close or a smaller plate would be easy. The price is reasonable.

I'm not sure if you're replying in relation to me as the OP (looking for stands for the Samsung soundbar rears) or oldfarter's query re Kef egg speakers?

I bought the Mounting Dream stands a while back, and as others have reported they're perfect for the Samsungs. The ones in the link in your post have a large base plate, as you mention, which would be too large for the Samsungs (so look weird); likely to be too large for the Kefs as well, and based on the experience of how weak the bolts are keeping the egg speakers standing upright I'd want some support in the back. (IIRC the original Kef stands attach directly to the back of the speaker, ie they don't need a base at all.)

Sorry, missed that you'd bought some stands. Just mentioning that the large base plate on the linked stands is not permanently attached and could be swapped with something else.

All good; that'll also serve me right for replying when also responding to a work thing, as I hadn't read your own reply properly! Yep, removing and replacing the plate could well be an option with those other stands. Given this is my first experience with rear speakers on stands (other system has them wall-mounted) is that I'm amazed how many times we knock them when pulling the curtains behind them, so I'm glad for the rear strip that fixes them to the stand - if it was just a plate I'd also be wanting to find a way to attach the speaker to the plate (I can't spot a mounting point on the bottom of the Samsung rears).

Yes, that is the one.

I am interested in these:  https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/MOABRA1095/Brateck-Lumi-SS01-Height-Adjustable-Metal-Satelite

I live in Masterton, which is 92 Klm distance from Palmerston North, the nearest branch to me.

I emailed "Head Office" this:

"I see that there is no stock at any of your stores, apart from "Auckland - Head Office".
I am reluctant to purchase four (4) of these stands and find that my KEF "eggs" will not mount on them."

"Will you send one stand to your Palmerston North store, or just the attachment head, so that I can take one of my speakers there to see if it can be attached securely? If you do and my speaker can be secured to the stand/head, then I will purchase four of them."

If I get a reply, it will be interesting to see if they will go that little bit more, to get the sale.

For me, the risk of sagging with this type of stand, which also can cause instability, is enough reason to avoid them. My family member bought stands like this for her rears (previous version of my soundbar, so a similar weight - about 3.4kg vs 2kg for the Kefs) and found exactly this, despite them being within the weight ratings. YMMV, as may your tolerance for swaying, but I’ve got kids so wasn’t going to risk it!

We are Pensioners in our 70's, so any sway does not concern us. The rears would be behind lounge suite chairs in the corners.

Hopefully, if a stand is sent to the P/North store, we will see what the sway factor will be.

E-mail the supplier, Computer Dynamics and ask them for their recommendations.

They will know more about the speaker brackets than most...
