Although my model is older with last firmware around 2020…

I’ve found recently after a full factory reset, google has updated itself (but the android version still remains a few years old).

  • TV works slightly better after stripping back the features of the Home Screen (removing stuff I don’t need, switch off previews, definaltey said no to sending usage info/crash reports etc, turned off the “streaming channels” option on the inputs.

mattwnz: I have tried holding down the power button when it freezes up but it does nothing for me, the TV remains on. Is yours the same X95h model?

I don't wait for it to freeze,.just reboot it every couple days

Also found its.not actually frezzing, but going real slow - so the restart does come up eventually

Interesting. The thing is that it now seems to do it every night for me, so rebooting it every few days wouldn't help. It was especially bad tonight and continued to do it after disconnecting power and rebooting. I can't believe Sony aren't aware of this problem, or if they actually tested to make sure this model of TV could handle running it.

Have you logged it with Sony?
Reckon you should also complain to someone else. A 2019 tv should be reasonably be working for at least 10 years ??

Coming in really late on this but from reading the comments it smells like a hardware issue. I’m of a mind to think it may not be an actual failure until you have had it cleaned. These kind of lockups can be caused by over heating maybe there is a buildup of dust causing this. It’s worth a check but whatever you do in the end I feel someone will have to look inside.

Hope this helps.

Both my Sony's received new firmware this week

Top of the bug fix was an issue with Wifi not reconnecting after coming back from standby - this one was annoying me :)
