Im also in the market for a 75" TV.   But a cheap one, my TCL 75" I think will die soon (colors are horrible, tv takes 2mins to turn on cos of booting).

So I'm looking for a sub $2000 TV and boots fast and is good enough viewing from 5m away.   Movies ill usually watch on my OLED in the bedroom.   Was considering a panasonic from the warehouse.   Rather go branded in hopes it works better with amazon fire tv stick etc since the IR codes wont be some random branch like FFalcon.

Dont need smart, so dont care about that, just care about turning on fast to use a smart device on it.   But pretty impossible to get a dumb tv nowdays.   just tcl + android tv == super slow boot (this tv is 5 years old, so maybe theyve improved).

More info, will be in open lounge/kitchen area with windows opposite it.  Have blinds i can close as needed.  but that rules out OLED (and well the price bracket rules it out too :)). Will use sonos playbar for sound, so dont care about sound, just need optical output from the TV.

75" for sub $2000 limits your options to TCL or Hisense realistically. If you can find a 2023 mini led model from them would prob give you your best bang for your buck. Just be aware to look for OZ/UK reviews of the TV as we dont get the same models as the USA. Hisense use Google TV in USA and their own Vidda platform elsewhere.

I’m extremely happy with my 55 Inch QLED Hisense. It’s the top of their range QLED (55U7H) rather than the cheap one. For the money it’s really quite excellent.

I use an Apple TV and a Chromecast with Google TV with it so Vidaa is irrelevant to me.

Ahhh I literally just ordered the 85" Sony Bravia 7 from the Sony store earlier this morning for $5660 after getting the 10% sign up discount. Now I see your post and see that the exact same TV is now $5128!!!

Will give Sony a call tomorrow and see if they can at least match the price, otherwise I may have to return the Sony one under their "30 day love it or your money back" scheme!

FWIW just saw this 'best tvs' story on Tom's Guide.

You've essentially asked - how long is a piece of string?

This.

I'm a steadfast Panasonic buyer because the colours just look most "natural" to me straight out of the box. I've owned Sony's in the past but their colours are too saturated to my eyes. Standing in the TV department of any home appliance retailer and looking at all the sets, I am always struck by just how much variation there is in the display of the exact same moving images.

It always comes down to that personal preference to me, regardless of the technical whizz-bangery each set might be bringing to the table.

What do people think of Samsung sets?

I am eyeing this one

Personally I wouldn't buy one, only because all my other kit supports Dolby Vision, Samsung TV's do not. So that rules it out for me. I have a Samsung Soundbar which supports Dolby Vision & Atmos Passthrough though.

W.T.F Sony! So just literally opened up the TV as it just arrived and it won't even boot. Sony logo pops up and then turns right off and has 6 red blinking lights. Upon reading online this indicates a problem with the PSU and or backlight. Absolutely w.t.f?! Have not even turned the frickin TV on and it's already broken. And all that effort to take it out of the box etc too! So ridiculous... And not a cheap TV either!

Requested an unlock from the mods to add my Sony TV experience.

Purchased a 65"X95L TV and setup last night after it arrived.  Purchased from Sony online directly as this model is no longer available in stores.

Went with the 95L instead of the Bravia 7 for two reasons.

One it was $100 or so cheaper (because the Bravia 7 never fell to the even lower black friday prices again at Boxing Day/New Years!).

Two was the older model had a wider viewing angle and an anti-reflection screen.  In my case that would have been handy for both reasons.

Arrives and all setup.  Once bluetooth was turned off the remote works on IR and that meant I could rather seamlessly reuse my old harmony remote control.  Same company meant cables hanging out of the wall are roughly aligned with inputs in the same place too, despite going 10" larger.

All good so far, but far out that anti reflective coating is horrible.  It creates rainbow smears either side of any bright light but worse any side lighting creates a band right across the screen.  It's redickulous and I'm now rather kicking myself I didn't just go with the Bravia 7 that doesn't have this.

In the image below all lights are off in the room apart from a ceiling light about 6 meters to the left, obviously up on the ceiling.  Whilst reflections from light sources straight on are a bit muffled (and rainbowed), any lighting off centre gets turned into a laser beam across the screen!
