I am not saying it's not possible, but, once I found some in ear true wireless buds I never used the xm5s again.

What buds do you use.  I've got some Sony xm5 buds (as well as cans) but they hurt my ears after a while (even with comply tips) and don't ANC as well as the cans.   I only use them for domestic flights

So I have owned 2 pairs of technics. The az80.and az100. The Sonys, bose ultra comfort buds, Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and the buds pro are my favourite followed by the az100.  For NC alone the Bose are incredible but their music reproduction is below average with too much base. The AZ80s were excellent for music and very good for NC but the buds pro 3 are the ones I carry with me. With EQ they sound amazing and they are comfortable and the control system appeals to me and their noise cancelling whilst not quite as good as the Bose or Sony, are good enough for me.

When I travel I often take more than 1 pair.

I was forced to purchase XM6 a couple of months ago after breaking the hinge on my XM5s. I may have fallen asleep with them or left them under the covers and the kid bounced on them. Anyway, I think I paid about $650 for the new XM6.

Mighty Ape have XM6 today for $599 or members $581

My impression is definitely improved noise cancelling for higher voices and general noise. Better sound quality. I'd call XM6 a 7% improvement over XM5.

Coincidentally I noticed the Dyson NC is available at JB for $428 or direct from Dyson for another $20

If you just gotta have machined aluminum..
