Most 4k TVs have two HD HDMI inputs and two 4k inputs. Software bugs affecting one pair may sometimes not affect the other pair.

That is a good point. Does a different HDMI connection behave any differently?  You may need to reboot the streamer to get it to re-check the TV’s capabilities.

Tried a different HDMI port and rebooted but only 720p again. I will leave it a few days and see if 4k returns.
