@Dynamic started this new thread. I dont know if the issue is with the Streamer or the TV but resolution is only 720p. Weird thing is sometimes it goes to 4k and then the screen output is small but then the screen goes black for a few seconds and comes back on at 720p.
I purchased a new HDMI cable to make sure that wasnt the issue but still no luck.

Weird. I wonder if that is related to the refresh match source content rate setting

What are the specs of the HDMI cable?

You might have to try someone else's TV to pinpoint where the problem is.

peejayw: Is that a Streamer setting?

These are the interesting ones

Settings > Display and Sound >
- Resolution
- Match content dynamic range
- Match content frame rate

I suggest having a look through this (Google TV Streamer 4K | Advanced Display Settings) 2 minute YouTube video and try a few things.  The key one is likely the resolution area.  I suggest choosing 1080p with the lowest refresh rate and then test.  Incrementally raise the refresh rate until you've gone one step too far and then take it back one notch.

When you think you've found the sweet spot, there may be occasional glitches if you are right on the edge of a compatible/incompatible setting.  In that case, you may want to consider taking it back one more notch to a slightly safer setting.

Finally, if (like me) you can't really tell the difference between 1080p and 4k content, you may like to set the streamer to 1080p and a higher refresh rate (which I believe smooths out motion blurring) rather than 4k at a lower refresh rate.  Higher resolutions and higher refresh rates both require greater horsepower at both the streamer end and the TV end to process so you may find that you can maximise the resolution but not the refresh rate or vice versa.  Having both at maximum may be beyond the horsepower of the processing chips in the streamer or the TV.

Caution:  When you change resolution, pay attention to any popup messages.  They are there to save your butt.  If/when you raise the refresh rate one step too far, pressing random buttons on the remote in a panic may actually lock in the bad change.  Just wait the 10-20 seconds for the change to automatically revert back to the previous setting.

Further to this, your TV will definitely support 50 Hz, which is the standard for broadcasting. It will very likely also support 60 Hz. It may support higher than that, but it also may not (or might only be able to do it at lower resolutions).

The issue I am seeing is that when the TV is turned on I may see the full range of Resolutions, 4K, 1080 and 720 at various refresh rates but more often that not I only see a Resolution of 720p. This seems to be completely random

Is the display resolution in the Streamer set to Automatic?  Have you tried setting it manually?

I can set it currently to 60Hz, 59.94 and 50 but only 720p. Next time I turn it on, 4k and 1080p may be available

Settings > Display and Sound > Match content frame rate

has warnings about blank screen during mode change. What is that currently set to?
