Ok - sounds as if the dish will be fine. Next question is can your tuner card provide LNB power which it seems it does so we'll assume so for now.

Next is the LNB and transponder settings. Obviously this is a bit different in OZ but a quick google it seems similar to NZ. Below is the text from the DVBViewer transponder .ini file I have edited and now use for SKY and Freeview in NZ from Optus D1

the [SATTYPE] portion sets out the LNB settings, particularly 4,5 and 6 being the important numbers. It seems in Oz most common LOF freq is 10700 (instead of 10750 here) but you might also try 11300. The [DVB] part sets out the transponder freqs to scan. Below is an example you may want to try.

Copy it and paste it to a new "notepad" document then save it as 1561.ini in your /DVBViewer/transponders/ folder. Then try scanning it in DVBViewer to see how you go. I have just taken the freqs from the current DVBViewer Optus C1 .ini so if it works partially you may want to go to http://www.lyngsat.com/optusc1.html and update it. If it doesn't work first time change both instances of 10700 to 11300 and try again.

I'm no expert with this stuff but hopefully that may help a bit.

I'll pull the HTPC apart this weekend and start from scratch. I'll also check the rest of this post and make sure NewCS and Acamd are setup and ready to go.

(so newcs will be running from a box at IP: 10.1.1.3 and as in your newcs file correctly looking at port: 15000. You could also use 'localhost:15000' if everythng is running on the same PC.
PS: Not sure about the EMM flag set at '1'. All the examples from NZ show this as '0')

With reference to this question - did those that were having this problem try setting their cardclient.conf EMM flag to enable ('1')?

Using a combo of CCcam/NewCS with Acamd 6.10, it will send EMM updates through to somewhere - whether or not they work is another thing. Kinda hard to find out when it takes over 6 weeks before you know...

It certainly doesn't correctly read and interpret the date on the entitlements... Based on this I'd suggest they're not working yet.

If you turn on EMM without knowing what your doing all it will do is cause glitches. I'd strongly suggest leaving them off until someone can actually confirm they work for NZ. Even if they do, they slow things down enough at the moment to make it not worth it...

The DVB-S cards I'm using both have LNB in and LNB out connectors.

To have both on the same dish, can I connect the cable to LNB in on the first card then connect the LNB out from there to the LNB in on the second card? Or do I need to use a splitter and have them on seperate cables, so to speak?

I ask because of the 18V to the LNB.

From reading above it would seem safest bet would be to use an All Ports Power Pass Splitter. Perhaps this functionality is built into the card itself (LNB-out is power isolated to LNB-in)? Does the Twinhan manual give a clue?

If looking for a way to test your NewCS Server other than via ACamd/DVBViewer (in other words using it in its final config/operation), I have written up a method using CCcam (in client mode) here:

This will show NewCS in action working as a card server, passing data through to a test client.
