Looks like they defined "Broadcasts", and they defined "Cable programmes"
but TV programme is not defined, and has a rather broad definition in today's usage. (IMHO)

are we Off Topic yet?

Ok, back on topic then - I have a Creative Zen Portable Media Center... It's a Windows Mobile device, and synchronises audio, video, pictures with a PC running WMP10 or a Windows XP Media Center Edition. Really cool little toy!

I had a 24 hours flight delay in AKL once (yes, thanks, Air NZ) and at least had the PMC with me to watch some programs.

I tried watching a movie on my Smartphone, but the screen is too small...

i didn't realise any Zen had a screen.
What sort of battery life do you get from your zen while watching movies?

i looked at the iaudio X5- and while i love the UI and the price for playing music - the idea of video on that thing made me laugh. it's just too small.

meanwhile my TT3 does a pretty good job, except in sunlight. i can't watch video outdoors.

oh, and since you bought up syncing - i'm using amarok for syncing audio, but i only have 1 movie on the pda at a time.

Check my review of Zen PMC. It can play songs for 12 hours or 6 hours for movies. Comes with a 20GB hard drive. Very nice for media collections, albeit a little heavy.

oh.. that thing. i dismissed it because it was so big and so heavy. i don't think i could hold it through a whole 2 hour movie - my arms would fall off.
but, since you're quite happy, i'll give it another look.
if is a USB mass storage? is MS OS required to get it working?

Digital Media can only be placed on the Zen PMC through a computer running Windows Media Player 10. That's because of DRM. However it does work as a USB Mass Storage too and it's visible as a disk on Windows when plugged in.

It comes with a stand, so you can have that sitting in front of you during a flight for example.

did you see the comment i left on that review several weeks ago?

I have a compaq mp3 player, that requires WMP to sync the music to it.
Microsoft dropped support for that player in WMP version 9.

lucky for me, someone built a linux driver, so i can still put music in there.
but if i was still a windows users, i would be locked into some old version of windows that still ran WMP 8.

While Format Shifting is currently illegal in NZ APRA and people associated with them have said on numerous occasions that they oppose the law change regarding format shifting but do not have an issue on individuals format shifting at present even though they are breaking the law.

Michael Gladding (who was head of Sony Music before getting booted out because he was 20 years behind the times) even admitted in The Herald having an Ipod full of music... Telecom also didn't have an issue telling you how to rip your old LP to mp3 in the mailer in last months bill.
