David Go seems pretty reliable to me. I ordered a tevii card off him, unfortunately it had real issues with XP and mediaportal (I couldn't scan channels with it) although this was definitely a driver problem as it worked brilliantly in Win 7 (so may be fixed now with a driver update). But as I still use XP on my main HTPC (win 7 was just the trial) I returned the card and he gave my money back. I found him to be honest throughout the process.
I already had a Hauppauge HVR-4000 and just got a HVR-3000 to go with it. This is purely because I'm still hoping they get DVB-T freeview in my area sometime in the future :-)
I had no problems getting the card to work with DVB-Viewer or the software that came on the CD, works well.
It didn't initially work with GB-PVR, but Sub has since posted a config that will make DVB-S work. BUT it won't work in DVB-S2 mode. Here is the thread if you're interested - http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=368427&postcount=4
Haven't tried Media Portal yet (I didn't have it installed)
Yes, David was good, would do business there again.
Hi guys - I had an update from David Go regarding the PCIe power cable on the card. It looks like we were right, it is used for things like powering the DiSEqC motor. Anyway, here is a copy and paste of the section of the manual:
"2.03 When will the power cable be necessary for TBS6980 card? Re: If you don't experience problem then you just don't need to use additional external power with TBS 6980. As primary power source TBS 6980 takes power from the PCI-Express slot and power supply plug on TBS 6980 is just optional and the card works perfectly good even when it's not connected to any external power source. However, under some circumstances like huge power consumption for example in case DiSEqC motor is used or on some motherboards, which PCI-Express slots don't provide enough or good enough power (like introducing noise in it) then using external power could help and that's why there is power supply plug on TBS 6980 for providing additional power in case of troubles with directly connecting the card to the power supply unit of the computer or some other power source."

thinking about it, it makes sense. There is no motor attached to my dish, and the MySky box in the lounge powers the LNB, so it can in effect be a passive card.
In that case i'll disconnect the power to it and see how it goes.
Hi Allstarnz, if you could disconnect and report back to the forum that would be excellent. I don't have my card yet, I will buy one when the next lot comes in which I am told will be in a few weeks. However I don't have a spare PCI-e power connector so it would be good to know that this will work without it.
Thanks, Blair.

currently reinstalling my OS, but once that's done, i'll give it a go and report back. Is currently disconnected, just haven't put DVB-Viewer on again yet.
Good stuff, thanks for taking the time to report back. I think I'll put one of these cards on back-order with David Go, just to make sure I get one from the next shipment!

Btw guys, I recently received this card and set it up on Win 7. I'm not very knowledgeable about setting Freeview up on MCE, but i thought i was supposed to use these frequencies:
>> 12456 & 12483 with a symbol rate of 22500. >>
(quoting from http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=83&TopicId=30754 )
That didn't work for me - no channels were found. However, if I used: 12457 & 12484
it did work. Not sure if that's a fluke or what, but just thought I'd post it in case someone else is struggling with setup.
thanks, allstarnz. My Nova-S card liked the the 'official' numbers, but this one didn't. Good to know that sometimes you need to fudge the numbers.
I had read on here that other people have managed to get 7 day tv schedule in MCE with DVB-S freeview, but interestingly I previously could only manage what's now/next with Nova-S. With this card/setup, I can now get 7 day epg, along with color coding etc. Not sure if that's because of the card or what, but glad it seems to be working (for now).
I haven't tried dual tuner setup yet, but so far so good.
Just wanted to report that this card is working well for me in 7mc, nz freeview channels + australia SBS channels (including SBS HD [doesn't look very HD to me though]) + 7 day guide.
I just hooked up a splitter today so i could try out the dual tuning and noticed some slight glitches in that when recording TV2 - TV1 was black for me if i tried to view it at the same time , but the other channels looked fine. I couldn't repro when i tried that test for a third time though.
