Reg1952: My MediaPortal is running the best it ever has since updating to 1.1 RC4, mind you the upgrade also coincided with me finally upgrading to a decent graphics card.

Only problem I have noticed is that although Campbell Live records fine on TV3  it wont playback any video just audio in MP. The same files playback fine in Windows Media Player and VLC. All other programs on TV3 record and playback fine.
What codec chain is being used? Use GraphStudio to determine.

Video is Microsoft DTV - DVD Video Decoder

Audio is MPC MPA Decoder Filter
And that is confirmed through GraphStudio? Does the file playback properly through GS? Or through another player that has its codecs, like GOM?

Yes GS confirms that and it will play back fine in GS and Windows Media Player and VLC, but only plays back sound in MediaPortal. What is even more bizzarre is that I recorded Campbell Live tonight on TV3Plus one as well as TV3 with exactly the same result. Even more odd is that the first three minutes of the program that is tacked on the end on TV3 news plays back fine in MP.

I am wondering whether it is in fact actually nothing to do with Mediaportal , but maybe something to do with the program that I use to grap EPG data with. I am using EPG collector, a program I got via a Geekzone forum. It grabs all my EPG data directly from the Tuner card. Well I think thats what it is doing.
Seeing as how we have managed to hi-jack the thread, it would pay to start a new thread. I would also recommend looking on the MP forums for similar instances, as there are probably more NZ MP users there than on Geekzone.

As a quick aside, I also use EPG Collector, with no issues, so don't see how it could be that, but you also post your concern on that thread. And, does Campbell Live playback on LiveTV within MP? Again, don't post here.

Anyone else with 1.1RC4 experiencing random stuttering? For me, using the same base windows image, TV3 1.0.2 is perfect, 1.1RC4 has random frame rate dips, at random places during recorded playback.

mediaportal forums show a handful of similar reports but nothing confirmed.

Yes I thought I had solved it by removing MS 'Play Ready' (?) update (discussed here http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=84&topicid=60085  ) .  But the stuttering returned.  I have dropped the HTPC output resolution to 720p (from 1080p) which (so far) seems to have helped.
From what I can tell the change from 1.0.2 to the 1.1.0 RCs is the handling of the videostream from direct to a type of overlay which massively increases the processing load.
If the stuttering is unable to be solved it will probably drive me to use 7MC.

I only have a 720P TV so that could explain why I'm not seeing the issues others are with the stuttering. Have the mediaportal team been made aware of the affect the change has made?

I assume you mean the processing load on the GPU rather than the CPU (depending on whether hardware acceleration is being used)? Will try setting the TV to 1080i and see if I get the stuttering or whether the 4670 I have is able to cope.

Very bad news for anyone on an IGP or low powered graphics card unless they can do something to alleviate the load.

Something in 1.0.1 stopped me upgrading as my IGP was not up to it. 1.1 RC2 dropped that "fix" so I upgraded. I am running at 720p though. I will up my resolution, see what happens. (Windows 7-64-bit, 780G chipset, Athlon II) and report back.

I had another go with 1.1RC4 last night. I changed a couple of things this time:

1. I did not install PowerDVD10
2. I modified the Vista power settings from Balanced to Performance to remove CPU frequency changes

I did not notice stutter issues this time. I wonder whether the CPU backing off to low speed was at fault? With 1.1 being more sensitive to this for some reason?

My testing time is limited though, I have to backup the HTPC, image back the OS and reinstall MP 1.1.

WAF is already taking a hit...

Anybody recording Wimbledon overnight on TV2? Every single recording I've made plays back as Radio not TV. All other recordings (Football, anything else on TV2) are fine.

FYI Giggles, of EPG Collector fame, has tested this with RC3 and, annoyingly, he can play back this morning's Wimbledon. A test with RC4 or 5 would be most interesting.

How did you get on? I still have the issue. Been away over the weekend but will do some testing as prompted by the developers.

Sorry for the late reply, I have had a busy week and only just managed to get a chance to check things last night.
The recording went fine, have scanned through most of the 6 hours and can't see any issues. This is not waking up to record though, I just leave the HTPC running overnight.

Thanks for that. I suspected it would work. It appears that the MP team have found the problem - it relates to the fact that the program title ends with the word Live. So you have a file XXXXX Live.ts.

I think when you do a one-off recording, it is ok as it puts the date on the end of the file name. But when you schedule every occurrence of this program, it uses a folder structure and the filename ends with Live.
