Hmm I'm having issues with playback of some avi files, all the other formats seem to be fine - and other avi's work well too, just a handful of avi's within certain folders.

Anyone having that kinda issue? As far as i know they're encoded the same way as the other files in the folders so there should be nothing different between working/non working.

I get an error to check the log files for failed playback - anyone know where those logs are stored?

Ok after a day of defragging and chkdsking I figured out that the only affected files are ones that I copied onto the drive from a USB stick while it was connected to my WDTV. That is, using the WDTV in-built file management tool with a USB stick connected to one port, and the USB drive connected to the other.

Found that I couldn't access these files over the network when shared from an XP box: neither from my Mac or from the aTV2. So....going through the motions of coping those files off the drive and back onto the drive. This seems to resolve the issue.

What a pain!
