OK, took the plunge and went for MP 1.2.0b/StreamedMP and a new HVR-4400 card using EPG Collector.

Everything's working pretty much perfectly except for the analog side of the 4400 -- it either reports no video/audio or (once) came up with a plain green screen. At this stage I'm wondering if it's something to do with the weird DIN expander cable as I'm pretty sure the signal going into it is fine.

EPG Collector worked first time on both the DVB-T and DVB-S sides, what a nice bit of software.

Getting the analog tuner to work can be tricky. Have you posted your logs somewhere? It is most likely that you don't have a software encoder installed or that you have the Hauppauge one installed (which is basically as bad as having no encoder installed!).

Check out -->this page<-- in our wiki for info. I'd highly recommend the ATI AVIVO encoder (which can be used even if you use NVidian video cards Wink)...

Thanks - yep I did a wee bit of reading around beforehand so at the moment I've skipped installing any of the Hauppauge software (other than the latest drivers) and have gone with the latest Catalyst 11.5 and AVIVO. The ATI drivers are showing up in the TV Server config as being installed and I set them as the highest priority.

I'll pop some logs up once I've discounted any physical/cabling problems (Sky SCART to S-Video to weird DIN thing to 4400 offers plenty of possibilities for failure...). Are the MP forums the best place for that?

Depends on how much support you need and whether it is NZ-specific or just general-MP. I personally don't mind where you post - I'll be happy to help either way. If you decide to post there then it would help if you either PM me (mm1352000) or post a link here...

Will MP play ripped bluray files?

I'm not talking piracy here but my kids have a habit of destroying discs within a few weeks, it would be nice to be able to rip the movie to a MP based system and watch them from there.

Hi

Yes, I think MP can play m2ts files as long as you have an appropriate splitter installed.

You better get yourself a big disc though - 25- 50 GB per movie.

Yeah I was thinking a 3TB disc should get me started, I don't own that many bluray movies anyway.

The only ones I would probably bother with are music blurays and ones the kids watch on a regular basis.

I've got a couple of La Cie networked drives (2TB and 4TB) and they have been fine for the last year or so.

You don't have any problems with full 1080P?

My HTPC will be in a cupboard, I will be running cat6 with hdmi baluns to a LCD/Projector.

My network uses a Netgear gigabit router. All the connected PC's are gigabit as well.

However I have no HD media as I have bespoke media software and no means of ripping/replaying BD discs. No access to HDTV either.

I don't have any problems playing 3 or 4 movies at the same time from the drives though.

Hi Guys,

just wondering if anyone has been using StreamedMP in Mediaportal and come across a problem where bluray and HDDVD discs information are no longer imported to Moving pictures?

This used to work fine on an older StreamedMP version with MP 1.1.3, but then stopped working for a newer StreamedMP version for MP 1.1.3. I then updated to MP 1.2b and latest version of Streamed MP and it's still not working..
