so let me understand what you mean the MP did not even see my card?? I thought it was just labeling wrong the device.

Exactly - TV Server didn't see your card. If you had asked for help then I'm certain we would have been able to resolve that.

I would like to record one channel and watch the other without stoping recording. I got a Hybrid card with both DVB-T and DVB-S so if I hook up both the dish and the digital antenna to same card having to different imputs sd and hd would it that work in Windows Media Center to watch the HD channels and record the SD channels???? maybe would work. Have anyone here tried that??

JonnyCam is right - you can only use the DVB-S *or* DVB-T tuner on an HVR3000 at any given time.

thank you guys I guess I have to chase another of the same tuners so I can have twins to do both record and watch TV. what you guys reckon should I just get a similar tuner or is there any tuner from Hauppauge HVR that could play TV and record simultaneously.

Do you specifically *want* access to satellite? The terrestrial reception in PN is excellent. If I were you I'd get an HVR2210 or 2200 or some other dual DVB-T tuner. With 3 DVB-T tuners and the right software you can record/view all Freeview HD channels. It is pretty rare that I need to do that, but recording/viewing TV One/TV 2, TV 3/Four and Prime isn't out of the question for me.

I know DVB-T is great in Palmerston North and that is what im running however I thought if I use both sat and terrestrial I maybe able to record and watch simultaneous but it is looking like more likely to be a hardware upgrade required to do this.

Not with the Hauppuage HVR cards as they're dual or tri mode, which means they have one tuner that can be either dvb-s, db-t or analog.

Multiple DVB-T tuners is very possibly a better bet, and easier to get hold of, as there is a PCIe one. There are no dual dvb-s ones as far as I know.

If you're going to stick with WMC and Freeview HD, then a hardware upgrade is the way to go. Hauppauge make a good dual pci-e tuner as mentioned before.

you right berrys Hauppauge and WMC with Freeview HD is my first choice and I will go for pci express card to add it to WMC as I cant squeeze another PCI card due to lack of space as I only got two PCI sockets and one is taken by The Sound Blaster X-Fi xtreme Gamer card and the other is the Hauppauge Tuner so I can place the second tuner in the PCI-e little socket,

I'm using a USB dual DVB-T tuner from Jaycar ($109) - haven't had any problems with it in WMC7

Just don't switch USB ports when it is all setup though!
