Price level may be set based on NZ$ present value. May look better when other brand retailers bring in new stock at new price.

If the prices were on par with kogans ones in aussie it would be a no brainer, but with the price so close to a known brand in all areas except the tiny tv's, I will pass on them for the bigger bedroom and lounge tv's, but will probably pick a small one up to replace the 14" CRT in the kitchen.

I think its 20% off when you recycle an old TV, the only problem I have is how the hell to get the old tv to the warehouse in albany when a 29" tv doesnt really fit in a car. Guess they will just wait outside for the next inorganic ;)

What does "USB Ready" mean? USB HDD for recording? (after a bios update?)

I wouldn't trust it to mean anything... going by the accuracy of the specs on their website.

Probably means it will play a limited number of formats off a USB flashdrive but only if you have encoded them just right, like other TV's

One thing about buying a budget brand, is that I believe you don't have the same level of protection under the CGA, as budget stuff isn't expected to last as long. eg You get what you pay for. They also are not cheap, and you can buy a sony panasonic,samsung with more features at similar prices if you get a good deal.
For instance I just purchased a 40 inch sony LED, with internet TV, for around $1000, reduced from $1600. It has a good interface, and all the features I want. These things are just getting cheaper and cheaper.

Had a look at one instore this evening when I was getting more plastic storage boxes.

Ugly matt grey finish like old thinkpads etc, badge was crooked on one, its just doublesided taped on the front so I guess you can debadge it quite easily.

Was playing a SD cartoon on them without sound so no oppertunity to see or hear the quality, also couldnt see the back to see inputs etc as they were on a high up shelf. So no idea if they will be wall mountable or have the plugs sticking out stupidly.

No info at POS and it seems all the staff were too busy unpacking xmas trees and decorations to offer any info.

My local warehouse is totally void of any TVs, so I couldn't see the build quality,but looks like they are about to get a big influx of these soon due to all the free space. I don't know why they just don't stock sony, panasonic,samsung ones instead which have good relibility, but I suspect the margins on these cheap ones is possibly more, especially if they can already discount them by 20% if you bring in an old CRT.

They already have xmas decorations out, that is scarily too early.

I got the 24" anyway after trading the verandah TV which only cost me $1 off trademe many years ago, will shuffle all the TVs around over the weekend and the veranda tv will end up being the old 21" junk trinitron from the garage.

Has a picture, sound is as tinny as any other small tv. Slow UI when changing inputs, the media player will lock up and the whole thing turn off if it doesnt like a file sometimes.

I would hope a software update could solve that, but I am not holding my breath.

And the USB and HDMI plugs are in the middle at the back facing down but with something blocking them so you have to kink cables to plug in and long flashdrives/readers will not go in ok, shared audio in for component and composite, no svideo.

REALLY annoying is a permanantly attached powercable, not an IEC or figure8 one.

I was in there last weekend and they had several of them set up and sitting on a stationary DVD menu. Great...
