helicrew: Can you try taking out all the frequencies except 12456000 and 12519000. You only need 1 frequency for MHEG5 and 1 for EIT now.

Also change the Y on the end of 12456000 to MHEG5 and the N on the end of 12519000 to EIT.

If that doesn't work change the EIT on the end of 12519000 to OPENTV and try again.

Hi Steve,

Tried all those no luck. I took a sample ini file and tried that too - still the same error. Even a fictitious ini file name gets the same error. It's not writing anything to the log file at all. I'm emailing my old log file to Giggles.

Can I grab an old version just to check that there isn't something else going on on my PC?

Try using 1.1.17. You will obviously need to use the ini file you posted on the forum for that version ie with all the frequencies in.

That's a very strange error you are getting.

What version of .Net do you have installed?

Looks like the latest is .net 4 (client profile and extended) as well as previous versions of 3.5 sp1 and 3.0 and 2.0 sp2.

I'll go back to the older version and see how it looks.

Helicrew, I had a very similar problem, just moved the folder from Program Files to a folder C:\TV and worked fine. Might have something to do with permissions?

Am running Windows 7 Professional 64bit

Right guys, progress made.

Uninstalled new version, went back to old version, worked ok.

Uninstalled old version, removed directories and all files, installed new version - runs ok!

Moral - uninstall old versions first - that was probably in the manual somewhere

I have an error occuring with the EIT data gathering;

10:24:25:843 Failed to stop background worker thread
10:24:25:843 Stop request processed
10:24:25:906 End of incomplete EIT table data
10:24:25:921 Stopping section reader
10:24:25:984 ** The program has failed with an exception
10:24:26:000 ** Exception: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
10:24:26:062 Collection timed out - no file created
10:24:26:140 Exiting with code = 6

Not sure what that is about, will give it another try. Is there a "best" frequency for the EIT data, I just used the one out of the sample ini.

This is the ini file I used - very basic - does it need timeouts added??

Satellite:1600 // Use the satellite at 160.0 east (Optus D1)

Dish:11300000,11300000,11700000 // Put your dish parameters here

Frequency:12456000,22500,3/4,H,MHEG5 // This is one of the frequencies for New Zealand satellite Freeview

Frequency:12394000,22500,3/4,H,EIT // This is one of the frequencies for New Zealand Pay TV

andysh: This is a permissions issue with Vista / W7. You need to explicitly allow full permsions on the install file for the collector if it installs in the c:\Program Files(x86)\Geekzone\EPGCollector default directory. Otherwise good old windows won't allow it to write the log file (or the default output file).

helicrew: I've tried the collection you tried and got the same problem.

Change the EIT frequency to 12519000 and the collection type to OPENTV. That worked for me and collected everything in just over 90 seconds.

You also need to add a Location:NZL ini parameter. It's mandatory for OpenTV collections.

OpenTV has a bit more inof in it as well. I'm just looking at putting out to the xmltv file HD, widescreen and subtitle flags. There is also the series link which I am looking in to.

I'll take a look at the EIT issue - it was OK a few days ago.

helicrew: The Pay TV EIT issue looks like it's because the now/next data is currently missing in the data broadcast for TV3.

The rest of the schedule is there, just now/next is missing.

I'd recommend using OpenTV collections anyway.

EIT works ok on the Freeview frequencies (although who cares?).

Hi All, I'm new to Geekzone so hope to learn a thing or two. Not an expert at batch files, dos etc but I think I should be able to muddle my way through installing the EPG Collector on my Win7 dedicated MCE HTPC.

My question is regarding the frequency that would be needed for a set up using DVB-T getting its feed from the Auckland Sky Tower. I have had a quick look around and cannot find it?

Ideally if someone were to give me the entire code for the "EPG Collector.ini" file that would helpful

Give this very basic one a crack....
If you have no luck with the first frequency uncomment the next one, etc and PM me the log.

Don't forget to make sure you have checked the persmissions on the install directory to ensure that the user has full rights to the install directory.
