+1 for that advice. I don't think Paul is actually still involved bit the deals were just as good a few years back when I last used them.

I did look at that site, but there wasnt any speaker packages, and the seperates were out of my price range.

While I wait for that, must sort out speaker cable.

Does anyone know if there is a difference between these two (other than price!)?

Update and yet another problem!

Bond and Bond sell the 10.6 pack for $3000.00. He said there was no chance of getting it down to $1000-1200.
He said if Harvey Norman are selling them for $1400 then best go to them cos they cant match it.

He did offer the 9.5 speaker pack (2x 9.5's, 2x 9.1's, 1x 9.CS centre, & SW-150 SUbwoofer) for $850, and Im wondering if I should buy them?

I dont think I can afford the 10.6 from Harvey Norman, but dont want to be paying too much for the 9.5's.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated again.

That's more what I expected to see for this pack. At that price it's a good buy I think, should be enough to get you started. If you're not happy with pieces you can sell off and replace individual components.

I quoted the models from the spec sheet he gave me, but Ive just looked at the pics I took and its different.

They have:

2 x 9.5
2 x 9.0
1 x 9CS
1 x WH-58

Im guessing the 9.0 and sub is a lower model to what I originally posted!?

I'd say that's a good offer. Think I paid over $700at Harvey Norman just for the 9.5's when I replaced the pair damaged in the Christchurch earthquake.

Thanks for that Srob. I guess it doesnt sound too bad then. Looking at old forums though, Ive seen people only pay slightly more a few years ago. Maybe they hold their value well?

Has anyone heard of the subwoofer that Bond & Bond have? Cant find anything on the net!?

It's a 70 watt sub... it'll be okay.
It's certainly not a musical genius in subwoofer terms, nor will it bring the thunder for home theatre - but considering the price you're paying, you should be fine.
Wharfedale is certainly a mine field when it comes to piecing together packs.
Would I buy the 10.6 pack in your shoes? Yes. Do you have the budget? No.
That should answer your question.
But what should raise your eyebrows, is the stores complete lack of knowledge re: what they're selling you!!
Try a specialist / someone who knows what they're talking about rather than a store that targets students.

Im surprised as well with the amount of packages. They seem to throw any old thing together.

While I was there I spoke to the supplier to confirm the packs.

All of this could have been avoided if the software stated what the product included. Now I know 'Diamond speaker pack' could be millions of different variations.

After much deliberation I think I have come to the same conclusion.

Yes I would really like the 10.6's, but no I dont think I can warrant the extra $550 for them.

I think I'll try and get some more money off as they're once again not what he told me.

Now back to speaker & subwoofer cable . . . . .

Many retailers will actually buy separate Wharfedale speakers and make their own pack.
Or, a skilled sales person will choose the correct speakers from a wide selection and piece them together for their customers.
The store you're shopping at, well, they don't even seem to know what's in the storeroom :-(
