Except in 95% of cases it's not the artist who controls the music, but the record company who make decisions based on a logic almost no-one understands but them!

Not my problem.

What really annoys is when there is a best of album with many missing tracks, but those tracks are all available on other things like "now thats what I call music 63" or a xmas compilation CD or something.

Yes I mentioned this earlier in the thread, a dealbreaker for me is having music I already own, unavailable in a music service they want a subscription for. Unfortunately that means I need another solution.

I'd say nothing exists that fits your specifications. Sorry.

I'd be interested to know if anyone had any insight with another 6 months having passed by?

Does anyone still use logitechs squeezebox for music?  Plex is kinda similar, but while it's great for music, I found it a bit crap for music.

Squeezebox seemed to work pretty well, but the devices were pretty expensive - also not sure if there's any decent mobile clients.
