r33ks: I changed the registry file to the following, without much joy.

"dvbs_LowOsc"=dword:AC6CA0 ; 10750000
"dvbs_HighOsc"=dword:AC6CA0 ; 10750000

is your LNB a 10750 oscillator?  the text after the semicolon is just a comment - it wont have any effect if you change it.  AC6CA0 translates to the 11300000 oscillator value.  Try the following instead:

"dvbs_LowOsc"=dword:A40830 ; 10750000
"dvbs_HighOsc"=dword:A40830 ; 10750000

I had a crack at it following the posts here: http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/community/xp-media-center-2005-software/10380-dtv-analog-tv-works-together.html

but i didnt have any success and in the end didnt feel it was something i needed in the end either (i dont have a vhf/uhf aerial anymore).....

My understanding is that running MCE with two different model tuners is difficult, and running two tuners on different formats (i.e. DVB-S, DVB-T, Analogue) is near on impossible.  If you want to record two channels at once you will need two tuners or a card with two tuners onboard.

There is a small registry 'hack' available that allows dvb-t and analogue tuners to work simultaneously

I was hoping that dvb-s and analogue tuners worked with the hack also, would rather someone confirmed before I went and bought a nice dvb-s card ;)

I would love to get DVB-S and Analog going together!! I have a Nova S and a WinTV HVR 3000 on order.

Will give this hack a crack and let all know how it goes!

Does anybody have a from start to finish guide to getting dvs-s (freeview) working in Vista MC?
I have jumped through alot of hoops and still can't get ANY dvb-s channels in MC.

Here is where i'm at, i'm wondering if anybody has any pointers for me:

Wintv app picks up all channels on the 2 transponder Freqs

build CSV file with the following:

dvbs_freq,dvbs_polarity,dvbs_srate,nit_onid,nit_tsid,nit_nid,DiSEqC_Port, dvbs_LowOsc, dvbs_HighOsc, dvbs_SwitchFreq
12456000, 1, 22500, 47, 22, 1, 0, 10750000, 10750000, 0
12483000, 1, 22500, 47, 21, 1, 0, 10750000, 10750000, 0

run it throught the dvbs-reg file to get the following:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HCW88bda\Parameters]
"DVBS_as_DVBT"=dword:00000001 ; Enable remapping support

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HCW88bda\DVBS_as_DVBT]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HCW88bda\DVBS_as_DVBT\177500] ; #5
"dvbs_freq"=dword:BE1040 ; 12456000
"dvbs_polarity"=dword:1 ; 1
"dvbs_srate"=dword:57E4 ; 22500
"nit_onid"=dword:2F ; 47
"nit_tsid"=dword:16 ; 22
"nit_nid"=dword:1 ; 1
"DiSEqC_Port"=dword:0 ; 0
"dvbs_LowOsc"=dword:A40830 ; 10750000
"dvbs_HighOsc"=dword:A40830 ; 10750000
"dvbs_SwitchFreq"=dword:0 ; 0

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HCW88bda\DVBS_as_DVBT\184500] ; #6
"dvbs_freq"=dword:BE79B8 ; 12483000
"dvbs_polarity"=dword:1 ; 1
"dvbs_srate"=dword:57E4 ; 22500
"nit_onid"=dword:2F ; 47
"nit_tsid"=dword:15 ; 21
"nit_nid"=dword:1 ; 1
"DiSEqC_Port"=dword:0 ; 0
"dvbs_LowOsc"=dword:A40830 ; 10750000
"dvbs_HighOsc"=dword:A40830 ; 10750000
"dvbs_SwitchFreq"=dword:0 ; 0

Apply the reg file then reboot, open Media center, run a scan for new services which finds nothing.
Now i checked the NIT_ONID and NIT_TSID in the wintv prog and made sure that they matched the transponder freqs.

Oh just in case it matters i'm using a wintv- HVR3000...... anybody got any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

After all that one thing i forgot was to change my country in Media Center to Australia, after that it worked perfectly.

Cheers,

Not sure if this is helpful or not but I've done a write up in the MediaPortal wiki what discusses putting a Technotrend S1500 (Hauppauge Nova-S (Not plus)) DVB-S card into pseudo DVB-T mode, using a set of tools released by technotrend called TT_MCE_Tools

Been following this post, but am quite new to this side of things(software and programs, better at hardware)
I have built myself a MCPC, using XP MCE 2005, (E6420, Asus 7600GS Silent, Nova-s tuner) and am trying to get Freeview also to run. I have a 3 year old Sky dish on the roof.
Now, I'm not capable of registry hacks and the likes, but have a friend who is. My questions are
1: Will I need to change anything on my Dish? In WINTV app it shows I have a sat signal when told to scan Optus D1 Satellite, however says "no services found"
2: The hacks that have been posted apply to Vista MCE. Will these work for XP MCE?

I'm sorry for posting what are prob silly questions, but i am completely new to this. Any help will be muchly appreciated
