And you can thank europe for the absurd turn on times for TV's with their mandated power usage when in standby crap. Cant even use enough power to keep an ethernet link up so the only way to wake TVs is to use IR in most cases.

The slowness of my samsung to get into the youtube app is what made me just ignore it and use a android box instead on it. Can leave those on all the time so no slowness to get into it once turning the screen on.

That shouldn't even be a question!

I've had low to mid to plasma-range TVs for the last 8 years (from LG, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic) and NONE have EVER been worth turning the sound up on.

Current Sony KD-X8500C (4K tv) included.

Would maybe try the "speaker" on the Sony A1 OLED, but that's because the panel is a speaker.

Just me

It's as though TV manufacturers cripple the sound just so you have to pay extra and buy a sound bar. What a brilliant idea!

Yeah sound really good, I will be looking at getting a soundbar though, or will use my Logitech Z906 speakers and go get a optical audio cable not sure as of yet.

I bought my 55X2US in the Boxing day sales. I did a lot of research first, I knew I wanted Android TV, but the reviews for premature failures on the Sony put me off. REviews of the TCL were positive, and the speaker quality was fantastic for a flat screen.

When it was delivered I was a bit disappointed with the picture, it took me 5 days of fiddling to get the colours, brightness, backlight etc to what I perceive to be the best IQ. Blacks were my biggest issue but I believe I have it sorted now.

Immediately I logged into netflix it asked me if I wanted to upgrade to a 4K sub, which I did, and whilst Bright had a crap story, it certainly looked good. The built in Media Player is pretty average, nothing pretty, but Kodi is amazing, doing online lookups of my NAS content and presenting it like netflix.

Power on is slow if you have done a full power off, which I do every night anyway. But standby is a quick power on, probably on a par with my previous Panasonic, maybe a few seconds.

The second remote is great, using it as a mouse pointer and a voice command mic, so I can tell it to open youtube, or browser or netflix (though there is a dedicated netflix button so that is unnecessary).

4K content looks great, sharp, seamless and the colours are amazing, though I've found my old NAS is incapable of streaming fast enough for 4K content, so I have to copy to my buffalo with USB3 and plug directly into the TV.

My only real gripe is that the TV seems to default to thinking my home theatre is turned on when the TV is on. So the TV sound lasts about 20 seconds after power up then disappears. So we either turn on the HT and watch it that way, depending on the content, or turn on then off, then the TV realizes the HT is off and reverts to its own speakers. And that was the point of buying this TV. On our panasonic the speakers were shocking and required the HT to be on at all times, the TCL does not, so in the interest of saving power, I would prefer the HT off for 95% of our TV watching.

I have asked TCL how to overcome this, so far they have replied saying they want to call me, but I have a social life, like to eat dinner and work, so I don't want to commit to a time that inevitably will not be convenient, so I have detailed the problem so they can point me to the offending setting. Though I have looked, and it certainly appears as though it is something defaulting to the wrong option.

Overall, a great TV, comparing features in the price range I wanted, I believe I got the best TV available.

I've got rather odd issue. Using IPTV and it lags (buffers) on TCL TV, but works perfectly fine on xiaomi box. The same settings, TV connected by LAN and xiaomi on wifi.

I think that storage is not fast enough inside the TV, so stream from internet is not write/read fast enough. However, no issues on youtube 4k, or local lan 4k videos.

I have the 55X2US and find it streams Netflix 4K without any issue, likewise youtube. However, on my old NAS if I go through Kodi it lags and buffers, especially if a high bit rate, so DTS is pretty much out for me when coupled with 1080, at 4k, not a chance.

However, if I use the built in media player on the same videos, it can cope with DTS and 1080p, though still not 4k, though I suspect that is my NAS not being able to deliver the data quick enough.

For anything above about 12Mbps I have to transfer to my USB 3.0 external HDD and play direct to the TV.

As for IPTV, not sure, perhaps dependent on the app you are using?

Currently using Live Channels + TVirl, but also tried PerfectPlayer. No joy :(

I'm going to try kodi IPTV and also Plex + IPTV tonight.

Oh the pain of first world problems ;-p

What you need is a month away on a no tech island holiday, no phones, laptops, tvs. That will reboot your ability to handle using a remote control and waiting for a tv to respond :-)

Really the only TCL that is any good is the one that won the EISA award from what Ive trolled through on the net.

Sony 93 or 90 is where its at for those of us that dont have $5k to waste on an AMOLED TV.

I'm looking at getting a TCL 55E17NUS from JB pretty soon, I missed it in the sales at christmas at $888, but have been told I can get it for $1100 ($1400 sticker)

Apart from its basic Chromecast features, and plugging in a laptop via HDMI I won't be using many of its features, but am looking for a decent quality experience from the screen, for colours/blacks and motion etc in movies. I know the sound will be rubbish so looking at a soundbar or speaker setup later. But for now, is the TV bettered by anything else for the money? I'm not sure, in the store it looked 'ok' but was being blown away by a $7000 Panasonic just behind it....

OK, this is very weird but my previous issue with IPTV run on TCL 55E17NUS is gone now by switching from LAN to WAN (5ghz).

I found OttPlayer on the market which is used solely for IPTV, and one of the useful feature - it shows current bandwidth use on watched channel.

Over LAN it's under 6mbit, but on WAN it's 10-30mbit which is enough now for FullHD IPTV.

So it's either LAN port on TV is slow? some software bug for single HTTP request over LAN? my router causing issue?

but wired set-up works perfect for local network FullHD and 4k content.

I sure can swap cable, but as I mentioned 4k video (> 50mbit rate) plays without issues over LAN (yet to try on WIFI).

No doubt the Sony 9300/9000 is where its at for LCD, but twice the price.

Id give it a 6.9/10 if the Sonys are 8.5/10.

Its not going to blow you away but if you just need a TV it might do.

IMO 4k is coming down in price so fast, Im waiting with my Sony 1080p until they hit the $1500 price point. Id like to see if any Sonys go on sale over Easter.

I think with that TCL back to $888 it would be very nice for the money.

But we'll see what else happens.

I also had this problem but somehow found a way to set Netflix to auto login under your Google account. Now when I open the Netflix App it auto logs in for me. Called Google Smart Lock
