I'd love a good UI or open and flexible google tv OS with a nice airmouse/slick remote, but it also scares me that it might ruin my harmony remote that rules it all experience.

 

Anyone have advice from their experience of a new TV entering their Harmony setup?

 

 

Similar situation. I was using an Harmony Remote with a TV, an Nvidia Shiedl and an A/V Receiver.

 

Changed my TV to a LG with one of these airmote thingy. HAven't picked up the Harmony since.

 

I was able to set everything through CEC which means that turning on the TV will turn on the rest and vice versa....

 

This meant that the Harmony set up was somewhat redundant for me.

sorry jumping in on this thread but mos thigh end 4k TV sets now support both HDR and HDR10+.... what are peoples thoughts on support for Dolby Vision (which occurs on the OLEDS) but not necessarily on the LCD LED suite.. 

 

 

 

The info i seem to have come across suggests that DV is going to be available via firmware upgrade but is it worth it ? or do you simply opt for the HDR10+ support ? 

 

 

 

My take on it is that i think that if the processor can handle HDR10+ then its probably able to handle DV assuming the TV make will firmware upgrade it?

HDR10+ is pretty much Samsungs take on Dolby Vision as you will find their QLED range dont support Dolby Vision and probably never will. In the Opposing camp especially regards OLED, they sit in the Dolby Vision circle bar Panasonic whose new range of OLEDs support both Dolby Vision and HDR10+. In my opinion a good HDR image outweighs resolution. But both implemented well together is astounding. Dolby Vision is currently supported across more software and hardware platforms. Makes sense as its been around for a while. Technically Dolby Vision has it over HDR10+ as well but to be honest its much of a muchness when it comes to the real world. I mean even standard HDR10 is great. I view Dolby Vision/HDR10 stuff via 4K Disc/Netflix/youtube etc via an LG OLED and im Loving it. In the end it comes down to the support for either format....not cool going for one format and they hardly release any software for it. HDR10+ has a long way to go to catchup i think.
