Offered the seller $1100 which he's accepted; even with $54 shipping (bottom of SI) that's still a big saving over buying new in 2021, but dang I also wished I'd just bought a couple of years back when I first started looking.

Those savings will also cover the cost of a pair of elevation speakers - though when I mentioned this to my wife it was 'what, this is the first I've ever heard you need to buy new speakers!' (which isn't true, by the way!).

Rather than divert this thread onto surrounds I've started a new one - please pass on your advice on that if you have anything to suggest! https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=34&topicid=293012

loving my Yamaha RX-A1080 Aventage Network AV Receiver

drives a 5.1 setup in one room and I use the second zone to drive L+R setup with second TV....just working on some lag with audio between zones close to each other and using music-cast to join them.

To get rid of audio delay between zones in the Yamaha there's a bunch of things you can do...

1: For the second zone, select the source 'Main Zone Sync' in Zone 2.

2: If you like, just press 'Party' on the remote when in Zone 2 for party mode.

If you use the same source regularly between both rooms, save that particular configuration as a 'Room preset' in the app. That way you can use shortcuts to quickly get everything playing, without having to open the app.

Also, if your AVR is hard wired, change its settings to 'speed boost' to reduce any delays that may exist.

Thanks @Dunnersfella - I will start a new thread as it also involves a bit more background on the zones and utilising Yamaha WXA-50 for the other zone (#3).
