Yes stock speed. I did not get it as low as I hoped. Dropped it .1 and it would not boot so I just went for 1.250. It is cool enough for my needs and is not pushing the envelope too much.

Have not had time to recheck temps but it is cooler today anyway so could not really compare.

Tried the voltage drop myself last night and it made a huge difference. Currently my computer sits at 41C with the 5v fans and running mediaportal/DVDs.

Dropped it straight to 1.125v and seems pretty stable. I'll run prime95 tonight to be sure it can handle things but the system seems pretty stable to me.

Hopefully just need the HD silencer now and I'll be done with hardware changes (just need to get software configured correctly). Pretty happy at the moment with the temperatures in the case :-)

Also just swapped in an 8500GT but getting issues now with overscan (DVI-HDMI) that I wasn't getting with a straight HDMI-HDMI from my onboard radeon 3200.
It seemed to be working perfectly last night (apart from overscan) but this morning I seemed to be getting ghosting and/or pauses (depending on the channel) on DVB-T!?
Need to recheck things, I am not sure hardware acceleration is working correctly *sigh*.

I did one more drop to and got to the same voltage.

You realise you will have to put the HDD in the centre below the optical drive? Reading yesterday I will look at going the 2.5" drive eventually and using suspension to hold the drive.

As for the overscan are you getting it in media centre as well? I get overscan on the desktop but it is 1:1 pixel mapping but in media centre it allows for the overscan so is correct. But then my TV is a little odd in that it is running true 720p unlike almost all LCD's.

Yep, will have to measure carefully and see whether things will fit in the 5.25" bay- otherwise its a new harddrive for me!

I am using mediaportal, it has the overscan issue too. the oversan issue starts as soon as I start the PC (through posting, booting etc) . The nvidia drivers seem to be more limited that the ATI ones I was using.

I tried the latest nvidia drivers, but they wouldn't "resize" the desktop, instead I ended up having to make a custom resolution of 12XX x 698 or something similiar. May go back to the latest Asus card drivers, where the resize was working for 1280 x 720. Plain weird..

Are you sure it is not 1:1 pixel mapping? I have the same thing. There is overscan though the boot and in windows. BUT it is using 1:1 pixel mapping. Once I am in media centre it allows for the overscan and everything is perfect. I just put up with the overscan for the rest as I am not normaly on the desktop.

Can you not allow for the overscan in media portal like you can in VMC? There is a site somewhere that you can download a app that tests for 1:1 pixel mapping. I have posted it up before but some time ago. I think I have the link at home will check tonight if you want. Otherwise just have a search on GZ.

Argghh! another session timeout- so frustrating when I'm trying to do more than 1 thing at a time

Okay, very quick 3rd rewrite:

My sony KFE50A10 does not support HDMI 1:1 pixel mapping.
It does through VGA and powerstrip, but at the time of the article showing how to do this powerstrip was not working with 8500GT cards.
I have no idea whether I can use powerstrip to get this setting, and I may not need to as I think Nvidia has advanced enough that its own graphics control can adjust the necessary timings.
Still, using VGA breaks HDCP and I'd like blu-ray at some stage..

Haven't found the setting in mediaportal for overscan/underscan (not entirely sure which one I'm getting- basically the picture is cropped as if its trying to project a picture slightly larger than the TV's viewable screensize), but I haven't really looked for it. Guess I'll be doing that tonight

lol I have the sony KFE42A10. Trust me just go into the TV options in the NVidia control pannel and set it to 720p. Yes you will have overscan but if you use one of the test patterns it will be 1:1. Here is the link to the software for testing it

Sorry I cant help you on the media portal side but I am sure if you post up a seperate thread once you have confirmed the pixel mapping someone will be able to help.

Maybe the NZ model is slightly updated compared to the USA, they are quite sure it doesn't support it.
Mind you, I do recall the NZ model had some improvements (PIP for one).

What zoom mode are you using on the TV Nety?

Weird, our systems are so alike its scary. You like the TV? I've found mine pretty good.

Screen is setup wide mode is set to full and screen area normal.

So have you had a look what options you have under the TV settings in the Nvidia control pannel? Does it have 720p as an option?

Yes it has 720p, thats what I've currently got it set too.

Managed to get Mediaportal displying the correct area now, but hardware decoding is still not working. Can;t find a definitive "check this box for hardware decoding" int he nvidia control panel. It is selected in MediaPortal and the PowerDVD program. Struggling to see what I'm missing..

There is nothing to set in the NVidia driver. It just works if the software is set to use it. Have a search on GZ though. I am sure I have seen the same question being asked with Media portal before.

Hmm.
I might try and reinstall all the software again, I want to be sure theres no issues with using the old ATI drivers etc. Basically I simply disabled the old radeon 3200 and installed drivers for the Nvidia card. Maybe a reinstall of software is needed for hardware functionality to be recognised with the new card. I can't find any info on either the GZ or Nvidia forums to help- so I'll go back to the start.
