I am looking at getting this card, would I be able to watch SBS HD with this card?

PC: 3.3ghz Core i5-2500, 8gb DDR3, ATI Radeon 5850, 27" QHD IPS Monitor

Mobile Phone: iPhone 5 32gb Graphite.

Yes. Although I should mention, since i hooked up a splitter (to use both tuners), i'm having issues tuning in the the SBS channels. Problem I'm having is that if I add the SBS channels now, i can't watch any of freeview channels, or vice versa. I didn't have the problem when i was just using one tuner.

I haven't spent any time trying to sort out why that's the case though.

I think that is normal as one is horizontal and the other is vertical, you cant use both at the same time

That may be. Honestly though after looking at the 7-day EPG, i'm not missing much on SBS. Not only is the content relatively crap, the picture quality is underwhelming as well.

Before I was using the splitter, it did happily let me change channels between SBS and non SBS. Now that I'm using dual tuner, the first channel-set i tune into when the computer wakes from sleep (that is, SBS or freeview NZ), is the only channel-set that I can successfully view until i put it back to sleep. I've since just disabled the SBS.

Aside from this one limitation, I'm really happy with the card. I seem to be having fewer issues than when i was using Hauppauge. (blue screens were the norm for me before)

Good to know, ill be picking one up hopefully in a few weeks, i too would not be using SBS often but i would like to be able to use the HD feed is i want to

you shouldn't need a DVB-S2 card to view SBS-HD. SBS-HD is just HD MPEG2 video, any DVB-S card should do it just fine.

I asked this question earlier on in the thread, but nobody answered: what tuner chips does the card use?

Reason I ask is that although I know there is a Linux driver, I want to know whether it is open source (supported by community) or some hack job by the vendor...

But this is the cheapest one i have seen so far with dual tuners

hey mm1352000. No idea about chipset. I'm going open the case later this week to put in more memory - I can take some pics of the card then if that helps.

What Satellite do you get SBS from? Can you just use your existing dish pointed at Optus D1? Also, do you have the frequency?

SBS is on optus D1. I'm not sure of the frequencies sorry. If you're using Mediaportal then use the 'Update transponders' (or was it 'update satellite list'?). Then the new SBS channels will be available.

Hmmm.... I tried the above settings on my Windows 7 Media Centre last night. I went into TV setup and scanned a single transponder. I couldn't find any channels... and for the record I also tried (as per LyngSat) 12648, Symbol rate 12600 and still nothing.

Any suggestions?
