Yes and no to be decisive about it!  I was at CES this year and pretty much caught all manufacturer's 3D's efforts. They ranged from so so to superb, the best being JVC's 3D demo on a 120" and a modified D-ILA projector.


In my view 3D only makes sense if you have a large screen and I don't think even a 60" TV is large enough. With a smaller screen you feel like you're looking through a window since you reyes easily see the sides of the screen. With a projector and large screen OTOH, the image surrounds your viewing perspective and the 3D adds a nice real additional dimension.

The Sony store in Wellington is showing 3D from a PS3 with the latest firmware and on a 3D TV and I was wonding if they would let me borrow a 3D disc and glasses to try at home. I have a PS3 and the key attribute of a 3D capable display is the ability to display 100 (or 120) Hz refresh rate since it needs to display two HD images at the same time. I know my projector can do that - it's whether or not Sony will lend me a disc and a pair of glasses to try out :-)  I might have to leave my credit card with themUndecided

Your projector will need to transmit a sync signal to the glasses, you could use a PC with nvidia's system with your PJ though.



 



Yes gimmick, ive seen some really clear screens that have a 3D feel to the image.
