I tried all the frequencies I know of on the cable connection with OpenTV, but sadly had no joy. Telstra uses a seperate cable modem to download the EPG and transfer it to the set top box, so perhaps it uses a completely different system.
If anyone has any suggestions or knowledge of how it works, let me know!

I'd be surprised if they had gone to the expense of implementing a new system
So you have 2 feeds going into your STB, one carrying the programs and one carrying the EPG?
The coax is split, and one feed goes straight to the STB which carries the TV streams and the now/next epg data.
The second feed goes into a cable modem which is connected to the STB via ethernet. From what I understand, it deals with the full EPG and anything requiring an upload eg Sky Box Office.

I think you are right about the EPG feed - I read it somewhere else.
Just as a test have you tried connecting the second feed to your DVB-C card and trying the Collector with that?
I've noticed that after collecting the data and importing into media center ,films are not flagged as movies etc.Is this a problem with the program or the EPG feed? Also i now have 2 ini files (1 named freeview & 1 named freesat) how would i get it to run automatically as a scheduled task? to collect data from both.

You have the wrong idea here - you just need 2 frequency lines. This should be your ini file.
You don't need the Tuner lines - it will automatically find the right tuner for each frequency. You should end up with one complete guide in the xml file.
I have been trying to find out if EPG Collector can output genre tags but I can't find any clues in this forum. Does anyone know if EPG Collector is capable of this?
I am using EPG Collector version 2.0.15 with Big Screen EPG V0.9a but have also tried BS EPG V1.0b. The data imports to Windows 7 MC and is visible in the TV guide but I get no pretty colours to indicate genre.
In BS EPG the Genre configuration tab is blank and when I open the tvguide.xml file created by the EPG Collector I can't see any obvious genre tags (although I'm not realy sure what I should be looking for).
I suspect that EPG Collector isn't adding the genre to the tvguide.xml output file. So my question is, can EPG Collector add genre tags to the output file and if so is there something I need to do to acheive this?
