I only suggest Samsung LED's as they have an analogue audio output (3.5mm plug) on the back... meaning you can integrate it with pretty much anything. Whether it's an older stereo amp, a home theatre receiver (via optical or HDMI ARC). It just opens up your options.

Another route could be with Sonos.....

A PlayBar and Sub for basic viewing and x2 Play 3's for the rear when "5.1" is needed.  Then the whole family could take one or two of the Play 3's and use for streaming audio anywhere inside or outside the home.  No wires (except to a power point) to run and the best wireless system at present.

Thank you again for all your suggestions, I have a lot of thinking to do!

I think once I have done some more research I will start visiting some shops and listening to equipment to see what it sounds like.
