I would be very surprised as transponder space (which HD uses a goodly amount of) is expensive, so if TVNZ or Canwest paid Sky to carry their HD streams then you could expect them to be their a soon as the cheque clears. But based on the current cold war between TVNZ and Sky I think you could expect to see FoodTVHD on Sky before TVNZ or TV3.

Their website says mid 2008. I seem to remember reading it was going to be some time in June but the website with the most likley info on is down at present.. http://www.dtvforum.info/

From a Foxtel insider @ Whirlpool:

Foxtel are currently setting up a department for hd enquiries only
which will be operational on monday. Anyone who has filled in a
expression of interest online will be contacted shortly by one of the
foxtel csr's

Foxtel are already broadcasting HD DVB-S2 signals in aus as per reports on Austech, so I wouldn't think it would be too long before they go live.... Havn't seen any reports of similar activty on this side of the ditch.

Ok Foxtel prices are out

$200AU for the IQ2 regardless of wheater you have or don't have IQ which I find very interesting....

Note that IQ customers paid $400 for IQ when it was released.

IQ2 rental fee will be $10AU p.m.

HD channels will be $9.95AU for the sport, $9.95AU for the documentary ones and $14.95AU for both of them combined.

Platinum HD $130.90AU (Platinum package + HD channels + IQ2 rental + 2 PPV HD movies a month + Foxtel Magazine)

Not sure what this means for us over here, but IMO expect to pay something like $300NZ for MySKy HD

Correction, its $299AU to go to IQ2 from a non-IQ box and $99AU to go to a IQ1.

so its $200AU only for current IQ customers.

To be honest its a rare occasion when you have to record 2 sky programmes at once, let alone 3.

tend to agree Sky dont really give a damn about their customers. We have put up with poor digital quality Booming advertising because they set sounds at peak levels of films instead of average peak levels. Lack of wide screen sports, repetitive movies, months or years behind releases, no choice of what we as customers want, you take the packages they offer. What happened to customers come first.

I found this Foxtel HD+ site off Austech, they say "Only two tuners will be available to consumers at launch.".. So I doubt we will see any more than two until a few years down the track if customers start demanding it, and even then I doubt Sky would listen.

The interesting thing will be the install price, as we know it's $700NZ for MySky, compared to $150 in Aus for Foxtel and the same box. In Aus the upgrade to Foxtel HD+ is $200, so can we expect the MySky HD install to be $1000. How do we spell monopoly, but hey, with 47% of NZ households on Sky, they can afford to be that way.
