Even those with MySky will have to get a new box for HD. No current Sky boxes will do HD.
Sky are keeping very quiet on what the charges will be.

Pretty much all PayTV operators worldwide (especiallly Skys Newscorp siblings) are moving toward supplying PVR only STB's and dropping nonPVR as a standard option, kinda makes sense especially when you concider the added marketable features such as ondemand and IPTV interactive type features which require local storage.

I've seen it a couple of times as well.  It's a really slo-mo section (one was a stumping from a cricket match) followed by a splash screen - no other details.

What super slow mo has to do with HD I have no idea..........

they have shown this ad on Sky Sport now and then, be interesting to see what it'll cost.

My guess too is it will be a monthly charge and a smaller up front cost.

My guess is the box will have internet capabilities. Therefore the "i" will have something to do with that. I don't think it has anything to do with any HD standard.

The "i" may stand for interlaced as in 1080i resolution, a hint as to what HD resolution they are going to use, TV3 uses 1080i as well although TVNZ use 720p

Hi all have been incontact with sky they say the HD box will be out some time june or july and do not know how much the charge will be. i also asked about the possibility of adding more movie channels especially one devoted to HD films but they say they are not looking to do this for sometime yet so we have to put up with the repeats for a while longer. A little annoying as the Uk has ten film channels and have made channels for HD only programming including things like discovery ,sport ,films ,sky 1 (the box) and many others.

I read somewhere that Sky are going to launch with two HD Sport and two HD movie channels.

It was on the Herald / Stuff websites I think, one of their 'bloggers'

i understand Foxtel are already testing their beams. Anyone with a DVB-S2 card pick anything up on D1 yet?  It'll be encrypted, but should be receiveable.

Not unless you either
a) Have a very large dish, or
b) Happen to be in OZ

Their signals are on AU only beams.
