yeaaaaaahh:

Mine is on it's way from Aus now, I'll do a quick summary here once I receive it.

What is the status on your shipment? Mine has moved and the tracking has been stuck like below since the 21st.

  • 21 Nov 20204:31 AM

Shipping information approved by Australia Post

  • 20 Nov 202011:57 PM

Your package has been dispatched. Shipping information received by Australia Post. The next status update will be when the item is processed at the next depot.

Mine is exactly the same:

  • 21 Nov 20204:31 AM

Shipping information approved by Australia Post

  • 20 Nov 202011:57 PM

Your package has been dispatched. Shipping information received by Australia Post. The next status update will be when the item is processed at the next depot.

And when i queried this with them this was the reply:

Thank you for the email and I am sorry for the delay.

Please note that Australia Post is working at full capacity to deliver all items prior to Christmas. There is a significant influx of parcels at this time of year so there is a high chance of delays.

As per their own website, they state that 90% of items are delivered within 3 days of their expected delivery date.

There might be a reduction in scan events occurring during this period but this does not mean the item is lost or has not been dispatched to you.

You can also log into your account here to view the latest updates on any of your orders.

Thank you for your patience and please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns.

I have the exact same status, and came here to see if anyone else had this issue:

Sat 21 Nov • 2:14am: Shipping information approved by Australia Post

Fri 20 Nov • 7:04pm: Shipping information received by Australia Post

I contacted their support and they said to expect delays and that the item was dispatched from the warehouse on November 20th, but I think "Shipping information approved by Australia Post" technically means it hasn't even been picked up by them yet.

I hope we get an update soon.

You can also take the Aus Post number and post it into the NZ Post tracker. That will provide in-country status tracking as opposed to generic messages.

Mine arrived from DSE today. Set up fine. Bit flasher than what it's replacing, which was an OG USA Chromecast (I think they cost $25 back then!).

I've never had an Android TV device before. How do you handle the lack of refresh rate switching? NZ programming looks terrible at 60Hz but US programming looks terrible at 50Hz.

It also leaves my TV in HDR mode for everything, which isn't the ideal way to watch, for instance, test cricket...

Sure - 23 November. Looks like you ordered before me so I'm not sure why I got lucky. Just the vagaries of international shipping in 2020 I guess.

Have solved the HDR issue. There's an option to match the properties of the media you're watching. No idea why that isn't turned on by default...

Thanks for the updates, really helpful to get ideas on set up here in NZ.

I ordered mine from DSE on 23rd November, dispatched on the 26th NOv and it is showing in NZ post at Chch airport, so that was reasonably quick i guess considering other peoples timelines.

I will post a review when it arrives.

Works the same on Apple TV.  You can enable HDR globally but then apps interfaces etc that aren't in HDR appear yuck, but if you just turn off HDR globally and check the setting to match content then HDR is only triggered for the content that has it.

No issues. I've been running the Australian model for a while. The "Home" page of content if in the US tends to be more dynamic with lots of recommendations. One of the most annoying things about the new Chromecast. "Home" is a customised version that Google has created unlike traditional Android TV so its tailored towards recommendations.

All it does in NZ is not show as many of these. Re-configure for US and you'll get tons but its annoying and can be turned off.

@gnfb: I suggest the first thing to do if you want to 'catch up' is read through this very thread; it's only four pages and many of the posts are specifically on ordering the product from Kogan/DSE.

To help you, here's the link to view the thread as a single page: https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=34&topicid=277248&singlepage=yes
