Where are you seeing a 40" B650 for that price as I'm interested.

Problem is the current generation of Sony X/Z sets are pretty weak. Need them to be the newer Bravia 3 or greater technology. The W5500 are nice, but for multimedia and contrast the Samsung currently wins.

I am based in South Island. I got the quotes from Powerstore. Powerstore gives the best prices so far but they are only based in South Island.

From what I have read about SD upscaling, Samsung seems to do a pretty solid job, but there are mixed reports of Z4500 ie Bravia Engine 2 (pro or not). But given the free netbook, sony seems a much better deal.

Picked up the LA40B650 last weekend for $2247 from Harvey Norman in Botany on GE finance 17Months. That was the best price I could find in Auckland. I guess there must not have been much left in it at that price because man talk pressure selling on the upgrades! I told the guy "yeah you're probably right about the HDMI cable that came with my xbox being rubbish so if I have any issues with it I'll come straight back and buy the $339 monster cable."

Oh btw, the LCD is beautiful. Shame I won't be using any of the flash media/online functions since I have an HTPC, It's just a big monitor really.
